    Vostok Chiston Amphibian?

    Hey guys!

Thought i saw them documented all but here's a rather strange 'Chiston Amphibia' I'm seeing for the first time ever.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Extremely-Ra...ht_1451wt_1396

So what do you guys think, franken or legit?
Looks very much too elaborate to be franken IMO..

I think legit, the dial looks ok with the printing, font looks correct (similar to many 470 dials), the case fits,
bezel is different but still Vostok-like, crystal looks similar to the 300m, slightly thicker and domed...

    I'm guessing 2409 inside as it says 17j, but with 2 o'clock crown.. ?

    Best regards,
    Janez

I've never seen anything like that before but that doesn't mean a whole lot...I've only scratched the surface and am often wrong! However the story doesn't ring quite true. Where's the serial number seller brags about? What advantage would this watch have over any other amphibian that it would be offered to SWAT teams? Looks like a very awkward lug system. I was waiting for him to shout "death to spies!" at the end.

Something is fishy here. Seller is in Philadelphia, PA USA and yet charges $35 with the shipping service listed as "Expedited Shipping from outside US". And shipping is only to USA. Seller sold a Strela recently for $1000.

Maybe it is legit watch but he is gaming the system. The watch is not in Philadelphia but some place outside the USA. I bet he is in the Ukraine.

I can't verify authenticity of the watch, but I've not seen one like it before.

I've purchased a watch from this seller before, once,... transaction went fine, and watch was as described.

It's definitely something I haven't seen before, either. Now, the story that goes along with it is either true to the letter....OR it's a sack of meadow muffins! It's thick, and large and looks like a purpose made diving watch. There will be somebody who knows. I wouldn't buy it without seeing the 'guts', nor without seeing another one in someone's collection or listed as a 'must have.' It's cool looking, I'll say that.
I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates, who said "....I drank what?"

"I have too many damn watches".....said no one on the WUS Russian Forum ever...

Lot of the watches from this seller have wrong hands or wrong case or wrong movement or wrong backcase: just look at the feedback and look at items.

But the price was good until last week!!!!

Why would one make a hole in a leather band supposed to insulate the caseback from the body warmth of the wrist for protecting the movement from thermal shock??? :)
As for chiston, the only one I found is a company manufacturing ultrasound cleaning devices (чистить-Chistit':"to clean")
    >> | , | >> . '' & ''.
The dial might bear some custom commercial logo ordered but unsold, and someone might be wanting to get rid of it!

Never seen anything like it, but all the parts have the look of Vostok manufacture, including that over-sized bezel. I've got a gut-feeling that this is legitimate but extremely rare (apart from the strap, and probably the back-story about SWAT teams). But I've got no evidence either way.

    Re: Vostok Chiston Amphibian?

If you disregard the strap and the bogus story (and focus on the lug position instead) it looks to me like an attempt at a "Stadium" version of the standard Amphibia.
I'd say that's what it is, because as a "specialist diver" it dosn't offer anything over and above the standard Amphibia.

The question WHY still remains open though ...
