Got this the other day. My first vintage Soviet era dress watch. Seller says 1950's. I think it is bt 1st Moscow Watch Factory, but I can't make out the brand. Movement is 2809? What say you?

Svet, it was a brand that Raketa Factory used, you can see the raketa logo on the movement. Movement is a pobeda movement -specifically a 2603.

I'm a watchbreaker not a watchmaker.
It's a second Moscow Svet, Art. Nice watch, decent shape, decent size, shock-proof and water-resistant back. The movement is probably second Moscow 2609. Picture is blurry. Looks all-original including the crown...who knows about the crystal.
2603 is the proper number.

For those wanting to know, the logo in the pentagone (ЭЧЛ) stands for Электрические часы Ленинграда, Electric Watches of Leningrad, another name for the 1946 founded and still existing Хронотрон.
Nevertheless, the movement is made by ПЧЗ (Петродворцовый часовой завод, Petrodvorets Watch Factory). They sometimes in some Zarya Movements too.
In my humble opinion, the watch is thus from Leningrad with "foreign" movement imported from Petrodvorets at 34 km distance.

I have the same watch. In my estimation a handsome dial. Dont know anything about the movement either. The only thing I can add is that the dealer told me it was from 1956. True, false, close? I like to think it was from the age of Stalin. A monster, yes but a big part of Russias history. Just my 2 rubles worth.
Oh, yes, I am totally wrong! Watch and movement from Petrodvorets Watch Factory as stated by emoscambio. Not everything made there were Raketas, though as stated by Itri. Starts were made there and also some Pobedas, Mayaks, Nevas, Rossias to name a few.
Er, watch from Leningrad?

Yes, it's a Petrodvoretz watch. However, it was made under the badge of the "Electric Watch Company" (as indicated by the pentagonal logo on the dial). As far as I have been able to establish, this was a sub-division of the Petrodvoretz factory in some way, and was on the same premises. They used Petrodvoretz-made movements, dials etc, but the watches were branded with that pentagonal logo.
Cheers,
Paul
