    1st Review - Omega SMP 2264.50

I am sure these watches have been reviewed plenty of times, so I will just give a quick overview of what I do and do not like about this watch.

I find that the weight of the watch is perfect, you know it means business. I am also impressed by the back design. I could tell immediately that the watch is very well made. Not to offend any Rolex fans, but having worn a Submariner I felt like the bracelet on the SMP (speedmaster style in this case) was much heavier and seemed to be of better construction. The same is true for the clasp on the SMP.

This leads me to discuss what I don't like about this watch, the clasp! It looks beautiful for about a day, then scratches appear. I would have expected that the clasp of a watch this expensive and well made would be a little more resistant to everyday scratches. But, I bought this watch as a tool, so the scratches just enhance its character. I was also a little disappointed by the lume. It could be my watch in particular, but I rarely get more than an hour before it becomes way too dim to read. My last complaint is of the sizing of the watch. Wrists expand and contract throughout the day, and even with the half link adjustment I still can't get a perfect fit. In the morning the watch is tight, and by the afternoon it is sliding down my arm.

Despite my few complaints, I cannot say enough about how awesome and well made this watch is!

I love my 2264.50 as well and I also find the lack of micro adjustments a little frustrating at times. I just added the half link for the summer months as my wrist has swelled with this southern humidity. I'm thinking about adding another half link and removing a full link for the perfect fit. Now to just find someone who isn't using their half-link.

Don't worry about the clasp. Search the Omega forum and you will find that the green Scotchbrite pad will clean up the scratches. Congrats on a great watch!
