    Seamaster Aqua Terra Quartz?

    Hi everyone

This is my first post on the forum.

I have always loved watches put never been a position to afford something other than my Rotary Elite and other simple but nice watches. My Dad has some great watches and have always loved them.

My fiance has said that as an enagement/wedding gift she would buy me a watch! I therfore have been looking on ebay as well as going into stores and after trying on Oris, Tag, Hamilton they just didnt feel special enough!? I tried on an Omega and it was the first time I thought yes this is for me just felt quality! I tried the SMP quarts but although a stunning watch i just loved the Aqua terra look more, just a bit more formal but still a good daily watch. Unfortuantely the Automatic is way out of our budget! So back to ebay and racking my head around what to get and look at second hand!

With great delight my fiance went out the other day and came back totally out the blue with a brand spanking new Omega Aqua Terra Quartz, her reason 'she wants me to have it for the rest of my life and wanted it only to have been on my wrist' and she didn't want me to have a second hand watch. Yes very sweet hand me the tissues! I didnt realise you could get an AT in Quartz. The watch is stunning and I love it! However I have been on line and not seen much love or generally much talk about the quartz AT version, which to be honest burst my bubble a bit! Just wondering if anybody else has any thoughts on the watch (really cant be bothered with another Quartz vs Auto debate! I am fully aware that it is a LOT to spend on a Quartz watch and you can get Autos for less) One day I hope to obtain an Auto and develop a collection.

I have also posted a photo! I think I just need some re asurance that this is still the great watch I think it is!

    Thanks

I love it too! i really liked teh silver dial but being rather pale the grey suited me better, love the way the teak gives a nice 3D finish. I was just a bit surprised by the lack of info, discussion on it the quarts version of the watch! I guess it's the general lack of love for quarts on the forums. I am thinking of picking up a used maybe vintage Auto on a leather strap soon tho for the weekends?

Excellent review, the quartz model is a reputable watch, you can't go wrong with it

Just picked up Aqua Terra Quartz as a present my wife will present to me this Father's Day. Love it for so many reasons--quartz being one. Just not the kind of person to fuss with a watch but love the Omega tradition, the understated elegance of the watch, that JB may wear one in the upcoming movie, and that I got a great deal and experience from well known seller in DC.

See if you can drop a Bulova "Precisionist" Quartz movement in this puppy, and you will have the best of both worlds, a smooth non-jerky sweep hand that will fool the mechanical snobs, and the most accurate quartz movement on the market +-10 seconds a year.

    Re: Seamaster Aqua Terra Quartz?

I think this is a fantastic piece and it being quartz doesn't put me off it at all. I have had quartz watches for a good 20 years and only one has ever failed on me. With Omega you can't go wrong, its a quality quartz movement at any rate, quiet and accurate. Should anything end up failing contrary to expectation, it doesn't cost a farm to replace the movement ($89,- was the most recent price tag I saw on a movement for the Aqua Terra Quartz). After all the case etc. is of the same standard as the auto version and here you have a brand new Omega fit for wearing on a daily basis, and with a special story attached to it. Nevertheless, if the day comes that you really want it to be an auto, Im sure its an easy conversion anyway..:)

Arriving a little late to this thread but I'm also thinking about getting this watch. Can anyone tell me how accurate the quartz movement is on this? 10,20,30 seconds a year? Also,I'm leaning toward the teak silver dial.Is this easy to read in this finish? I would also like to put a waterproof strap on it.Is the strap replaceable and will the rubber strap they put on the Planet Ocean fit this? They say it a cross between leather and rubber?

    Lovely watch! ;)
Quartz/Auto discussions don´t turn a good watch into a bad one just because someone else doesn´t like it or prefer the other! ;)
You have a great watch! I have both auto and quartz watches and I really love my quartz watches because I rarely or never have any problems with them. Autos usually require more attention and when in trouble usually end up giving you a higher repair/maintenance bill which is something I prefer not to hear about! ;)
However I do have some autos that never gave me any problems whatsoever but quartz are indeed carefree and usually more reliable and autos have the advantage of beeing always repairable even if it does mean a high cost repair...

Your wife to be is right, this will be a watch for life and you both made a great decision in such a nice watch and beeing quartz there´s much less to be worried about so I think you should be happy with it! ;)
My Tag Aquaracer 500m quartz keeps ticking without any problems 2 years after I bought it and hopefully will be so for many years to come! ;)
With my autos, that I love as well, I usually hope for the best but know that something might go wrong anytime( some of them anyway ). That doesn´t mean I regret buying them because I love them but I do know quartz will probably mean less problems in the future.
Anyway, there is no need to ensure you that you have a great watch since it´s almost a year since you got it and we´re sure you had a great time wearing it! ;)

I actually wouldn't mind getting for myself this grey dial quartz AT since I feel its a target I can acquire unlike the Skyfall blue AT which is currently not within my budget limits..
