    1960s Zodiac Glorious Automatic

I had no intentions of buying any more watches when I came across this 3 weeks ago and just couldn't say no to it.

Great looking watch! I love the patina on the dial.

Very nice - I like Zodiacs.

Many of my pictures were posted via Webshots which has now closed - and so have disappeared from WUS. Sorry.

Please don't PM me to ask for a valuation - I won't attempt one.

I have never seen a dial like that. The uniformity of the surface makes me think this is original and not the result of some aging process.

Zodiac has made some very interesting watches over the years. Their watches from the 60s and 70s are often the most interesting.

Yes the dial is 100% original as it left the factory, so the textured crinkle effect is not patina but actually the way that it was finished. A really cool and unusual finish!
This model is famous for the area that is swept by the hands to turn brown as the radium paint burns the dial. Between 4 and 5 there is a very slight browning that can't be seen in the photos. The hands must have stopped in that position for some time. But it's not noticeable unless you inspect it under a strong white light, apart from that it is perfect and hasn't been burnt yet.

I believe it is. The movement is a Zodiac 1094 which is an Eta 1080 (RR gives as c.1955) with a modified bridge.

Is there a listing of what ETA movements were used in Zodiacs? i.e. what ETA movement was used in mine?

Not that I know of. It may not be an Eta at all - the rotors on Etas are quite distinctive. It looks a bit like bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: AS 1641
