Which case back gasket does a 1963 Bulova Snorkel 666 automatic take?

Anyone know the number or size I need for a:
Bulova Snorkel 11AFACD 17 Jewels Swiss M3 Automatic 666 Feet watch.
Inside the cover is stamped MLB and 386 and M3.
Is 386 related to a cross reference for part numbers?
Would a watchmaker have them in stock?

I am afraid I have no idea. However, generally case gaskets are fairly generic so unless you have a special model, there is a fair chance that any ol' watchmaker can help out.

    Good luck!

One thing I'll point out here is that you shouldn't have any expectation of returning this to it's original level of water protection, even with new gaskets, unless you also replace the crystal and stem and polish the case surfaces to remove any age-related wear that could compromise the seal between the parts.

I don't plan on taking a vintage watch under water. I did send an email to parts@bulova.com and they wanted $14.00 US to ship to Canada. Wow.
I've just sent an email to bulovacanada@bulova.com to see if they stock the gasket.

Try the forum on mybulova.com; there are some enthusiastic bulova restorers there that could probably tell you more then us. I have a fairly decent selection of Bulova parts, but only for the movements themselves, not the cases. Any of the cases I've worked on just use standard crystals/gaskets. But I've never worked on a "diver" style watch, so not sure if the gaskets are special.

I spoke with Bulova in Toronto today and they don't have gasket item number G772 in stock. They said that they would have to order it from the US and I'd be eating the cost to get it to them. Forget that. The gasket is 8.00 in the US plus shipping if you live in the US. So for Bulova Canada to order me one, it would cost me probably over $20. bucks. That's sick. Welcome to Canada. I'll go to my local Jewelry store and get one fitted.

I was looking at that site yesterday and was going to make a post.

Bulova in Toronto emailed me and stated they have a substitute part#. I asked if the gasket is flat or the O-ring type and am awaiting the reply.
The one I removed is flat but I don't know if it's the correct one. Anyone know if there's a chart online with info that would tell me?

Caseback gaskets need to provide contact all the way around the case and back to make a seal. Although a number came originally with flat gaskets, I have always found an o-ring of the correct diameter works.

Assortments can be found from a number of vendors. I do not believe it is necessary to source the exact original gasket to get a good seal.
