    dogma. Spectacular dial

    Hello
I just restored the Dogma of my uncle. The dial is spectacular. Some people even claim that the watch has a Masonic symbolism! The movementy is ETA 853. I think it is bought in Argentina. Do any of you can give me additional information as the approximate year of manufacture, etc?

Don't know anything about the watch but I like the "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." motif going on there.

    Nice watch!

A similar movement is given here bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: ETA 853 as being c.1941. So round about that date would seem reasonable. Spectacular indeed.

Many of my pictures were posted via Webshots which has now closed - and so have disappeared from WUS. Sorry.

Please don't PM me to ask for a valuation - I won't attempt one.

Interesting. Assuming this to be a Greek or Roman godess, it would be Hera/Juno, who is sometimes shown with a bird (a Cuckoo, to be more specific). Her later husband Zeus, who happens to be her brother also, once disguised himself as a Cuckoo in order to seduce her, or so it has been told...

cuckoo or dove? dove or owl? Hera or Athenea or Aphrodite? It seems that the goddess wears a crown of olive tree... (Athenea, maybe)

I've been reading and asking about mythology. I think o.v.e. is right in his supposition: the dial represents Hera / Juno and her cuckoo.
