Just a quick tutorial for stripping down a vintage Hamilton 917 pocket watch movement.

In my opinion, when examining this movement, the craftsmanship and components were far superior to any ETA movement I've ever worked on...

well, having sat in on the tear down and rebuild of around 40 or 50 watches- paltry, i know- i can safely say it isn't this easy. sure, there were times the good watchmaker who allowed me access to his work den would pull them apart without incident, but about half the time, there was a problem that only his decades of knowledge solved. he would almost seem relieved when a watch went back together and timed out well.
