    Help Identifying vintage Hamilton...

I originally posted this in the Hamilton forum, and was referred to this section.

Just received this one, and am looking for any kind of information I can get on it...namely when it was produced, the model name (if any), etc.

    Thanks in advance...

Hamilton Mechanical, says "Swiss" at 6 o'clock marker, has "Hamilton" engraved on case back near lugs.

I was recently informed the piece is a Thinline 6502 from the late 60's. Can anyone direct me to where I can find more information on this particular Hamilton line, more accurate manufacturing date, approximate value, etc.

    Thanks.

It would help if you can post pictures of the movement. Hamilton stopped production in USA in 1969, but this would be earlier. Hamilton bought the swiss Buren company in the mid sixties, but I don't know about this one.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Is it fairly simple to remove the caseback, or should I seek the assistance of a watchmaker?

Don't do it if you don't know how to. A watchmaker would be glad to do it for you, and most likely you will need to have it cleaned and serviced anyway. Running it with dried oils will destroy it over time.

I hope our wristwatch members can help you with identification of the watch.

If it's a Swiss Hamilton it probably dates somewhere between 1966 and 1972. These models cannot be easily identified as the records are not as exhaustive as they are for earlier American made Hamiltons.
We never give valuations in this forum for reasons we outline in our sticky notes.
