    HY. MOSER

    Hi,

I wonder if this is a real H MOSER? I'm doubting.
Because normaly there's a stamp with H Moser & CIE. On this one stands HY. MOSER.
Can somebody give me some information about this watch.

    Thx.

    Re: HY. MOSER

The movement looks like ST1686, an updated version of AS1187/1194 (Ebauches SA). This may be a Moser, but only in the name. The movement is clearly not Moser. Hy Moser didn't really recover the loss of the Russian market in 1917.

The watch pictured above has no historical or horological value, but may have sentimental value to the owner.

    Ok thanks for the infomation.
That's what i wanted to know.
But i already thought it wasn't a real one, there was no stamp on the movement after searching on the net.

    Re: HY. MOSER

    N.I.C,

Henry Moser became one of the core constituents making up what was to become the Second Moscow Watch Factory, but the amalgamated firm carried on trading as under the Moser name for quite some time.

A new firm started a few years ago under the Henry Moser name too, I am not sure who is behind it. Nevertheless your example is far from being a fake in any sense of the word, I feel sure it was by the then owner of the Moser brand in Switzerland. Like most Swiss brands, it made much more sense to use off-the-rack components to build watches for sale; in fact I quite like it.

    Thx Seele,

I wonder of what year the watch can be. But there is no mark of moser present.
Would they be able to help me in a jewellery store? I want as much information as possible about this you know.
Even though it is not the watch of the century :).

Also the name is written differently. How come that? What about the fish sign?
    All these questions

"Hy." is an abbreviation of "Henry", just like "George" can be abbreviated to "Geo.", etc. It would be difficult to pin down a year as these Schild movements were made over a long time.

Hands and face would suggest a date c1960.
