    IWC Pallweber II info please

Hi there. I have this IWC Pallweber and am looking for information on it. If you can help that would be great.

The watch is in working order, winds and keeps time from what I can see.

I posted on another forum and learned that this is likely an 1886 model of the IWC Plaweber II 19 Linge.

    Movement: Appears to read 16541
    Case Sterling Silver (0.935)
Hand etched on the inside of the movement cover 1583-12L
Stamped on the inside of the covers 30591

Does anyone have an idea of what this pocketwatch would be worth?

Looks like a relatively standard IWC pocket watch movement with altered bridge layout. I am sorry but we don't do valuations here - a sticky will tell you why that is the case. Nevertheless, it is an unusual pocket watch of a better maker so it should be worth, shall I say, "above average". For a watch of its age and in its condition, that is.

oops, sorry about that. I didn't realize that was a no no... Any suggestions of where I could go for a rough appraisal?

    Thanks!

Any appraisal you get without paying for it will be worth about what you paid for the appraisal.

If you think this may be valuable, take it to a reputable auction house and see if they are interested in listing it. That will give you your best idea. You can search the auction house websites for past catalogs and see if any appear. That will be useful. You can search eBay and look for comparables. But you might not find many. Or you could ask a jeweler. Depending on who you ask you can get any estimate you want.

The watch has to be one of the world's first digitals - not many pocket watches were digital. But unless there are conditions I don't know about (common!) you will find these don't trade for a whole lot. Pocket watch collectors are fewer than wrist watch collectors.

I concur. Antiquorum has had similar ones sell for only a couple of thousand or less. You need a fancy dial version to hit the auction's 15-20K marks.
