Need yor help- identifying a watch

    Hello,
I would really appreciate your help regarding this pocket watch.
The only thing I know about this watch is that it has been in our family for many years. besides that, not a single fact.
Therefore, there are few questions that I have. if your could help me answering them, i'll be very glad.
I must the watch is not in great condition.
some things you can't see in the photos:
There is a little crown engraved on the inner side of one of the caps. on the same cap there are some numbers.
so, I guess the relevant would be:
what are the origins of this watches?
    who is the manufacturer?
    where was it manufactured?
what is the meaning of the medals?
and of course, what is the value range of this watch?

Please post pictures of the movement and the markings inside the lid, like the crown you mentioned (not the medals outside the cuvette). With no name on the face it may be diffcult to identify the manufacturer, other than the movement calibre. No valuations are done here, ref. the sticky post on the forum page.

Its hard to say from those pictures...the dial looks reasonably upscale, and the markings on the inner case would suggest solid golid of some sort (but it's difficult to say without seeing them directly). I can't make out all the words on the dustcover, other then the '15 rubis', which means "15 jewels". Stylistically, I'm thinking early 20th century, generic mid-grade Swiss. But without more detailed pictures of the inner case and movment, that's akin to a wild random guess. :)

Unfortunately, WUS doesn't give evaluations on watches. But if you're really dying for an evaluation, ask yourself one question.

Is this watch in mint condition?

If the answer is 'no', then the value drops considerably.

    Hey,
    Here are two more photos.
on the movement photo you may not see the words: "AVANCE RETARD".
on the second photo, you may find the liitle crown and below there are some digits: 5G (or whether is it 56?), 14K, 0.585.
below the medals it's written: 'LEVEES VISIBLES', 'ANCRE DOUBLE PLATEAU', '15 RUBIS'.
    hope that would help.
by the way, what does the medals mean?
    thanks.

It's Swiss all right and I agree early 20th century. Looks like you may have a gold case (14K). I'd guess 1920s maybe.
Medals are usually won from a fair of some sort. The other stuff means you have a double roller lever escapement which is pretty good.

Re: some more details and photos

It's a fairly plain movment, which mean's it was probably meant to be functional and isn't pretending to be a better watch then it is...good things in a 80 year old watch. "Avance/Retarde" just means "faster/slower". On watches meant for sale in America, they'd usually print either english or both languages, so this was likely meant for the european market. The 14k is obvious, the 0.585 is the percentage of gold.

I don't tend to pay too much attention to things like the medals on the dustcover...they're basically marketing blurbs. Someone might recognize them though.
