I bought this Active Service as a spares watch for my Admiral.

Both have identical movements, the Admiral having a broken balance hairspring
The Admiral is in very nice condition cosmetically but the Active Service has a badly worn case and the dial is not as nice


I had a look on the net and the Active Service might be WW2 issue watch

1940-WWII-ACTIVE-SERVICE-WATCH-AS-984-SUB-SECONDS

Question is should I keep the Active Service watch as is or steal the balance to fix the Admiral

Also if I were to keep it what sort of strap should it have? An Army Green Nato?

Hi!

I donīt know how difficult it is to find the right sparepart for your Admiral, but I would leave the Active Service as it is. Itīs a nice watch and part of history. I would give it an original WWII-canvas band, still available for a moderate price here. I bought two of them for my WWII-Rados, they look nice and are comfortable.

Those straps look just the job
Which strap did you get.? Is it the American Band Co one?
The picture is a bit blurred . Not sure if it too light in colour or the green ones may suit better

I have a wrist diameter of 21,5 cm, so I bought the XL ones(B1C). The sales-pics match the colour perfectly - better than my pic of the Bullockīs-Rado, made with artificial light and my old camera.

Hi Mike,
I took your advice and got a NOS strap from WatchDoc
The B1B I really wanted was sold out so I got a B1BB instead.
Arrived in 1 week to UK. Excellent service and great quality. I think it suits the watch really well
