Please help me identify the production date of this Royce

    Hi there!

This Royce is being auctioned at ebay.

I just would like to know the date this watched was manufactured.

I am guessing this to be of the late 50's to early 60's. I am not very sure though.

I hope you could help me even though we can't see its movement.

    Thank you very much.

BTW the item is described Incabloc, Waterproof, Anti Magnetic, 21 Jewels.

IMHO, I'd say it looks more late 60's/early 70's.

(BTW - don't rely on my opinion!)

I'd say 1960s. If it says waterproof it's prior to 1970. A date window is not something you see much of in a 1950s watch.

    Thanks, Ray!

    I believe you're right.

I also did some research and found very few information about Royce and Eska.

To be honest I don't know much about Royce and Eska either. The brands were established in Grenchen in 1918 by S. & E. Kocher. That's where Eska comes from I suppose.
The 1950s and 1960s were great times for Swiss mechanicals and many of their more obscure brands did not survive the quartz revolution of the late 1970s and 1980s.

Re: Please help me identify the production date of this Royce

This is a post by SWG (Swiss watch guy) on the horology newsgroup in 2006: I found the ad.

Kocher, Sylvan & Cie SA + Eska MFG Co, Grenchen / Selzach, Switzland &
    Baltimore MD, U.S.A.
Other Brand & Model names: Amphibian, Bonostar, Budy, Cedin, Dorna,
Dower, Eska, Leadership, Megalo, Protex, ROYCE
The company was founded in 1922 in Selzach. It was listed at Selzach in
1924 with no Eska. Eska was imported in the 1920s by Walter Kocher, NY.
Royce was listed as a US import in 1951, using movements by A. Schild
and ETA. Claimed in 1953 in an ad that they had launched "the first
self-winding watch more than 20 years ago". In 1966 the company was
listed as S. Kocher & Co, Eska. An ad in The Swis Watch 1972/73 showed
two coin watches, one using a US $ 10 and one using a US $20 piece,
saying "Eska, Royce for 50 years".
I found two joint registrations for the TM:
Fortima Trading AG Grenchen / Bettlach CH no 382690 15.05.1990 new
    424982
KOCHER & CIE AG Grenchen CH no 246085 14.09.1996 R424982

I did find some registration for the first:
    http://www.hraag.ch/cgi-bin/fnrGet.cgi?fnr=2543000592&amt=241〈=4&...

But did not find any for the latter (which does not mean that it did
    not exist).

whereas the TM Royce seems now to belong to a German watch Company in
    U.S.A.:
(LAST LISTED OWNER) TUTIMA UHRENFABRIK GMBH CORPORATION FED REP GERMANY
TRENDELBUSHER WEG 16 - 18 GANDERKESEE FED REP GERMANY D-2875

    http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield...ate=clt9a.2.13

That's all I could find through the net, without spending any money for
more research. I hope that your wife shall enjoy her watch!
