Swiss made Medana 7 jewel mechanical

Picked this watch up a few weeks back and am in love with it. I'm not sure of its age, however, from what I've gathered it could be 50+ years old. One of my favorite details is the hands, not only the design but the fact that they have a blue anodized look to them. Anyone have any details on this model?

Nice to see someone who is happy with their Medana

Can't quite read the calibre number in the photo but I'd guess it's an MST 379, maybe the 374. This is what I think of as the second generation of pin pallet movements where the bridges became square. trim will perhaps be best at giving a more exact date but I'd be happy dating this into the fifties, perhaps early fifties or even late forties. I'm not sure when that style of hand was popular (don't know the name for them either). Blued steel hands always look good I think, so I'm in agreement with you that those hands are lovely.

It does look like its well overdue for a new crown which means it's also due for a service, at least if you intend to keep wearing it.

For those that don't know, Medana was the budget brand of Meyer & Studeli whose main brand was Roamer.

Beautiful collection, Marrick and thanks for the cool facts!

@ Mirius; Thanks for the excellent information. Very interested in dating this model, just for curiosity's sake; late forties would make it a nice talking piece. Additionally, I agree about the service. I plan on sending it out shortly but need to find a reputable watchmaker with reasonable pricing - recommendations repair shop in the southwest would be appreciated :)

Hard to get a photo of the identifying mark but the movement is an MST-379.

Thanks for the confirmation! I was 99% sure that was it from the photo of the bridges.

    Mirius is the Medana expert.

    In general terms,

I would say the hands are mid-late 1940s.

The case style is late 1940s-early 1950s.

    So, I'd say late 1940s.
