Do vintage pocket watches not sell? I have had a nice 1896 Waltham Model 1883 up for sale on the sales forum for several days and there has not been any interest at all on it. Zero inquires.

The watch is in nice condition with a great condition dial and has been serviced so there is nothing a new owner needs to do except to wear/enjoy it. The watch is priced reasonably and it is a great chance to get a vintage watch for somebody's collection.(I think everybody should have at least one pocket watch) However there is no bites at all.

do pocket watches really have no market at all?

My reason for selling it is that I want to reduce my watch collection and in the end if it does not sell I will trade it to my watchmaker for a service on one of my other watches.

    Thanks all
Trying to PM you want to buy
    the Waltham
    thanks

I personally love pocket watches. I can always find a nice deal on them at pawn shops. However, you are very right the market is not what it used to be. I wouldn't know as I started collecting a year ago but people have told me it was much better awhile back. It could very well go back up but until then who knows. Your best best by far for pocket watches is eBay, if people want them they'll go there. Good luck!

Re: Is there really no market for vintage pocket watches?

I think that it's time for a reminder or two:

    1. "Want to Sell" posts in open fora are not permitted. When I first saw this thread, I thought a little about wiping it altogether but since (i) the watch is mainly advertised in the right place (WTS forum) and (ii) this thread was more about a discussion on why it wasn't being snapped up, I left it as it is. Still, it was rather borderline.

    2. "Want to Buy" posts aren't allowed either. Since the initial approach was by PM, as it seems, and also the watch was on offer anyway, I will leave this one too but again, it's close to the red line.

So, having said that and, in view of what I've reiterated, it seems like it's time to close this down altogether. Further communication can be done by PM. If those are unsuccessful, I would say that one party has probably lost interest.
