    Vintage omega

Hi this is my first post on these forums and i was hoping someone could help me identify this watch. I have a watch that has been passed down from my great grandfather It is a Omega Chronometre around 1947. I looked for serial number in a database and i could not find any info on it. The markings on the inside of the back case are 10726345. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

As said above pics would be very helpful - of inside and out!

Also im having trouble with the second hand, it only ticks for about 15 seconds then stops, if you give it a tap it will start again and then stop, but i noticed if i hold it with the face down towards the floor it ticks, any suggestions?

This is all I could find on it.

Looks like a vintage Cal 30T2.

It probably just needs cleaned and serviced.

Nice vintage piece you have there. Hope this helps.

    Re: Vintage omega

Looks like a very nice Omega to me!

Certainly better quality than the standard Omega form this time.... with a solid 14K gold case.

The stop/start could just be it needs a service.... but from the description, it may be that there is damage to the balance staff/jewels.... either way a service/minor repair will result in a stunning watch that will last another 60+ years if well looked after.

    Congrats

Your great grandfather had excellent taste. Please make sure to take it to a good watchmaker rather than just a guy who changes straps and batteries as this is not a cheap watch. We aren't allowed to do valuations on here but you can do a search of the for sale forum of the various watch forums to find what others have sold theirs for.

That's a really beautiful watch. I wish I would own a piece like that!

And to agree with previous posters; get it serviced by a good watchmaker. There is also the option to send it to Omega, but that's pricey. Don't try to run it before you have it serviced as it might cause damage to it.

If you are in the US, this link might help you finding a watchmaker.
