I just bought a Waltham off the bay. I hope it is a vintage WWII era model and had hoped that opening the case back would answer my question. Alas I have been flummoxed by the watch. I managed to remove the case back but the whole movement, hands and dial came with it. Now I cannot separate them and am hoping that I don't have to remove them to access the movement. I don't have the tools to remove the hands and dial. The watch appears to be working correctly and I don't want to damage it. Any ideas? Do I have to remove the hands and dials to access the movement?
Thanks in advance

I worked my way around the dial with a sharp knife but saw no movement with the movement (a little joke, very little). All that happened is the dial started to deflect so I stopped. I put quite a bit of upward pressure so it may have corrosion there was sign of verdigris on the case. The watch works was stopped this morning so not sure if I didn't wind it enough or worse. Any ideas of how to remove a sticky movement? I will post some pictures of the back. It has an engraving so I am not sure if it is an original case or not.
