Since it was pretty clear it didn't work I never posted it but since Marcin's asking about it here it is.

What about using a lume that has a white pigment but the marking glow a different colour? During daylight, it would look the same, but at night the GMT hand would be easily identified? For example, the marking on the dial could be C1 while the markings on the GMT hand and the 24 hour track in BG W9.

Cannon, that certainly changes the character of the watch!

Marcin, the problem with C1 is that it doesn't glow well. For most customers it doesn't matter, but lume is important to forum customers.

I still think the understated look is best, with polished hands and C3 lume everywhere.

I believe that's true: I never considered lack of lume a deal-breaker until this forum. Still not a deal-breaker to me, but I know it is to many others.

I'm usually not a fan of fake aging, or using brand new yellow lum for fake patina, etc...... BUT....
That rendering with the classic faded pepsi colors is beautiful.
I would absolutely buy that watch.
The only thing I'd like to ask is for a brushed case rather than polished (or at least brushed uppers).
    Great thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is possible to make some as a special edition, but I'm not sure if the pricing will be realistic. RC Tritec makes a lume called, "GL Old Radium/LE", that would go very nicely with this concept. It is expensive.

The GMT will sell for more than the standard LM-5 by about $200. If we make 50 of these, it will add another $200 to the price. The reason is that we can't make just 50 dials and 50 sets of hands. I'm not sure what the MOQ is for dials these days, but for hands it is 300-500 sets. Also, we will have to make spare bezel inserts for replacement purposes. At $1599, I'm not sure it will sell.

It is. I think the LM-5 is at a good price point for us. Any higher and we would probably need retail presence.

Mitch, I think you are absolutely correct. when you get up to the 1500-1600 USD range, you are starting to go head to head with some really nice, well known and heavily advertised brands, not the Wal-Mart and department store stuff, but the watches that you find in nicer jewelry stores and watch stores. I would guess a pretty hard sell.

I would love to have one, and if the price point was 200 over the base LM-5,I would more than likely buy one, but I would have to do some serious thinking at 1600.
