Speaking of diamonds, I found out something interesting about diamond encrusted watches from B&R, Panerai, etc. They don't sell in the West, but they sell very well in certain areas of the world such as the Middle East.

When I was stationed in Bahrain I bought a few pieces of very nice gold jewelry for the women in my life. In Manama there is a part of the market district known as the "Gold Suq". Actually the market place in general is referred to as the suq. Anyway, for about three square blocks there is nothing but gold stores and nothing under 18kt is sold in the Middle East. Most popular was 21kt with some 23kt. Of course every imaginable Swiss watch was available in gold and platinum so crusted over in jewels you really had trouble finding bare metal exposed anywhere. Every shop window and all the walls and display cases were just dripping, overflowing with gold. Seriously, it was as bad as that island in the 1st Pirates of the Caribbean with all the treasure inside of every store. I wish I had known more about watches then. The only thing I could remotely afford was a very simply designed Raymond Weil quartz dresser in 18kt that I got for my dad. It's 26 years old and still runs great and is very much a beautiful looking watch. I had to look in a lot of stores to find one without jewels all over it.

I love the poll idea, and the big date complication is very appealing in some other circles, and sort of a trend that may help O7 catch (more) fire.
I'd also love to see the hour/minute markers in polished stainless and the hour/minute/second hands in polished stainless also.
of course, this on the revivied LM1!

Re: What OCEAN7 Watch Would You Like Made?

For a womans watch, i was thinking back on the watches i've sold in the last 20yrs of retail jewelry work, very few dive watches but the ones that i sold were just simple ones, fairly small cases about the size of the rolex oyster case.

i think that size case a rotating bezel and a date with auto movment or quartz, different dial colors red, green, lighter blue and black, basically a small version of the lm 6. i was talking with a customer about her dive watch the other day and she was commenting on how few are availabe and not alot of mid price range ones at all.

i don't really know if the cost could be recovered in the amount of sales either, i rather doubt it. i do know that i've sold alot of nurses on dive watches because of the larger more readable dials and the water resistance.

anyway those are my somewhat random thoughts.
