moby711's FIRST LUME TEST - MODEM BURNER 23 pics !!!

    Hello there,

inspired from my brand new Prodiver, which I have received this afternoon
I decided to make my own luminescence test concerning my watches.

To watch these pics correctly please keep in mind:

    Part A
    Initial situation

    Timetable:
    22.59 - 23.15 1 min step with 1sec exposure
    23.16 2sec exposure
    23.17 3sec exposure

    Part B
    Separate watches each 5sec exposure

    Enjoy... :-D

    *********************

    Part A
    Initial situation

    22.29 start

    23.00 1 min later

    23.01 2 min later

    23.02 3 min later

    23.03 4 min later

    23.04 5 min later

    23.05 6 min later

    23.06 7 min later

    23.07 8 min later

    23.08 9 min later

    23.09 10 min later

    23.10 11 min later

    23.15 16 min later

    23.16 17 min later, 2sec

    23.17 18 min later, 3sec

    *********************

    Part B
Here you can see some separated pics of the watches
Details: around 8 sec. illumination, 4 sec delay and 5 sec exposure

    Prodiver

Omega Seamaster Professional Americas Cup 5sec

    Sinn UX 5sec

    Certina DS-3 reissue 5sec

    Rolex Sea Dweller 5 sec

    Omega Speedmaster Professional 5sec

    IWC Aquatimer 2000m 5sec

Now you can make up your mind... if the Prodiver dominates the contest.
In the beginning it seemed as if the Americas Cup would keep up with the
Prodiver... in the long run however the distance was noticable and the
    Prodiver finally won the race.

Next week Iīll complete this contest with my ordered Citizen Promaster
1000m and the 12.000 feet CX Swiss Military. :-D

Good night.. time for me to go to sleep...
    Current watches: only a few
    Sold watches: too many

Stunning pics... would love to see the GP Seahawk and Monster compared to the Stowa PD... that would be a tight race I think.

Awesome test and very useful material. The Omega Seamasters et al were always known for their superior lume, but it definitely looks like there's a new sheriff in town since the Stowa Prodiver hit the streets. B-)

As a newbie to watches, I always wondered how various watches compared in their luminessence. Your post does an incredible job shedding light (pun intended!) on this topic. Well done!

Re: Private luminescence test - my watches - MODEM BURNER 23 pics !!!

    Hi there everybody,

    thanks for your kind comments!
Believe me, if I had more watches I would have extended this lume test.:-D

As far as the lume strength of some watches may be seriously concerned,
you have to keep in mind, that each watch has only been illuminated for
    about 7-9 seconds.
I have heard, especially from the Doxa area, that some watches just need
to get their dial much longer illuminated.

To proof this I am goinig to make a second lume test with other premises:

    I will
    • illuminate only six diving watches
    • placed all in the middle of the watch casket
    • for the time of 5minutes
    • take pictures after the time of/with an exposure of:
      • immediate/ 1 sec
      • 1 min/ 1 sec
      • 3 min/ 1 sec
      • 5 min/ 1 sec
      • 10 min/ 2 sec
      • 15 min/ 2 sec,
      • 20 min/ 3 sec
      • 30 min/ 3 sec
      • 1 h/ 4 sec
      • 2 h/ 4 sec
      • 4 h/ 5 sec
      • 6 h/ 6 sec
just trying to simulate the human eye, compensating automatically the
vanishing lume by taking more time to gaze at the dial after the last illumination
I think thatīs only fair, isnīt it?!

By the way... if anyone out there can make another helpful proposal for
the premises of a fair contest... please feel free and letīs talk about it!
