Another new comer joining the Breitling Club

    Hi Guys!

Just received by first Breitling. A Breitling Aerospace repetition minutes, I always love Breitling chronograph but already owner of 2 automatic chronograph and want to try something different. I don't think getting another Colt chrono, chrono avenger or super ocean chrono will make it stand out in my collection. I don't mind owing a quartz. Aerospace is indeed unique. The ETA 988.332 is a very innovative calibre. No sub dial button and everything coming under the crown for its operation. I especially like the repetition minute for its bigger hour marker and the lume is nice. Not omega standard but better than average and will sure be handy in night. Its double AR is superb.

That was my first ever Breitling too, back in 2001. Great watch. I had it on a Pro I.
Enjoy and wear it in good health.

Love my Rep Minutes, bought it at the DUBAI airport AD, looking back now, I might have bought the tan or beige coloured dial model.

Couple of things I do which might help .. turn both readouts off when I'm not using them, it prolongs battery life. I get about 3 1/2yrs from a new battery
and I rotate the bezel back and forwards a tad every day after it locked up with dust and microgrit, through shooting video programs on dusty airfields for a few weeks.

When the EOL flashing appears, get a new battery installed asap. On a Chronomat I've just had one leak about 2 weeks after going flat.
I can easily hear the alarms on my wrist, but I don't wear my RMins to bed. So when I want the alarm to wake me in the early morning,
I put the watch on a small flat glass plate, so it reverberates and the alarm sounds louder.

btw T9, looks like you wear your new baby on your right wrist, or was that easier just to take the pics? :)

    Cheers Spaulding.

    Thanks Capt!

I always wear my time pieces on my right wrist. And I am wondering if I keep using the readout, how long will it last before a new batt change?

I just bought a $1.5 batt for a new replacement. I don't mind doing it for every 1-2 years.

This Aerospace is very quality. The readout is fantastic, sharp and clear even under strong light. Despite the caseback is snap on. It is the most quality snap on case back I ever encounter. It is very easy to pop open with the correct tools while snapping it back is equally easy too. And you will still feel the case is very secure and waterproof. This breitling will be my daily beater. Never regret paying a grand for it.

Hi Triton and welcome aboard! Congratulations on the fine acquisition and wear it in good health!
    Best,
    Ron

PS. Wouldn't hurt to drop by an AD and let him do a hermeticity (water resistance) check on the watch, particularly after having the caseback off. If a new gasket was not installed, chances are the watch has less than its specified rating. Also, the gasket for the crown may need replacement as well and it will most certainly affect WR capability. Just a suggestion. See this... Water Resistance Truths Unveiled...

    Thanks for the advise, mod!

I pop open the caseback and the gasket looks brand new. I bought this pre-own from a reputable online shop who hands out 1 year dealer warranty for it. Looks like they have done their homework or the aerospace is really quality that even after a decade and the gasket still looks as good as new.

The only disappointing thing is they don't spend $1.5 for a new batt for me. LOL.. But I feels much better after the batt swap and the readout is solid gold.
