    I beseech the forum: rare Superocean Deep Sea questions

    I just picked this guy up and have found scant information about it. ANY and I mean ANY info that could be passed my way would be considered a mitsvah. I'm a quid pro quo kind of guy as well, so I'm happy to help on the flip side in any way I can from my Brooklyn, NY base.

    What I know: HRV built into back of case and caseback - don't really know how it works. Quartz movement - which one? Two bezel options: steel and acrylic - mines acrylic, obviously.

    What you know: ????

    Thanks in advance for any info.

    Areas I can help with: Squales, Scubapro, Felca Seascoper, Bezel insert fabrication...vintage divers in general.

    This might help a bit.

    Also known as a Supercompressor because of its ability to do sustained deep dives in helium atmospheres.

    Thank you gentlemen --->

    Your helpful links took me deeper into the vastly misunderstood world of Breitling! So so many cool models that probably only exist in the handful of numbers nowadays. Amazingly, not one photo of my watch on the Israeli Breitling Museum site. Perhaps I need to contact them.

    The search happily continues...

    OK, am I just ignorant, or are most people that write the marketing bilge for watches ignorant?

    Looking at the spread for the Supercompressor, it mentions the HRV opening for "a few thousandths" of a second, to let out the helium that permeates the watch during very deep sea diving, while preventing any water from entering. That implies to me that ... nevermind.

    I guess people transition to and from the helium-saturated deep-sea habitats through the water, not staying in the habitats.

    Sorry, just got a clue.

    Going ahead and posting this for (hopefully) the amusement of others at my ignorance.
