News & Headlines - White Watch: Breitling Bows SuperOcean 42 White Water

La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switz. - Reported by Elite Traveler, the private jet lifestyle magazine

The Breitling spirit is set to make waves again with a new version of the Superocean 42 entirely clad in white from strap through bezel to dial. Ultrasturdy, ultra-sporty and water-resistant to the fabulous depth of 1,500 meters (5,000 ft), this diver's watch with a steely character has already established itself as a champion of reliability on the wrists of those with a taste for powerful sensations.

In its new White Water version, it will appeal to women who enjoy mixing style and performance, boldness and excellence. Available exclusively from Breitling boutiques, this special series with its fresh and original look is equipped with a selfwinding movement chronometer-certified by the COSC (Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute).

The white rubber-molded unidirectional rotating bezel and the distinctive dial are adorned with dynamically styled numerals. The thick sapphire crystal is glareproofed on both sides. The powerful lateral reinforcements protect the screw-locked crown, while a safety valve serves to balance out differences in pressure inside and outside the case. An ideal instrument with which to cross any waters with the utmost confidence, and to sail through fashions with inimitable elegance.

I saw it in person at the AD earlier this month and the lady customer trying it on absolutely loved it. Looked great on her wrist and her husband agreed with that assessment. My wife liked the photo of it very much and opines it would be a nice sport or dress watch.

I like the pics, but would need to see it at first hand, as the original Abyss was a let down when mine arrived, but looked great in the photo's.

A few years late following the already tired Chanel J12 trend...

Same reason as to why many people dislike the zenith defy line. It looks completely ridiculous and nothing like previous offerings. Afaik zenith discontinued the defy line after a massive backlash in sales, and one can only hope breitling does the same thing.

To quote someone from a real breitling forum, "really hope Breitling are going to drop the "Instruments for Professionals" moniker soon. It's about as in keeping with their current range as marketing arctic coats in the Sahara."

You anonymously quote someone from a "real Breitling forum" and then toss out another of your pearls of wisdom. A few examples of your words from other posts...

And the devaluation of the breitling brand continues

A breitling from before they became exxxtreme.

I like how guidos all agree with you. It makes for a better point proving the decline of the breitling brand.

If someone could tell me the point of oversized dress watches I'd be most appreciative. They're not exactly stylish. The midsize AT is plenty big enough for any non-obese working suit.

The date-less chronograph that got brought along by accident, and would be forevermore exploited as the "moon watch" by swatch marketing execs

new one looks like a prop from jersey shore

A dive watch on leather. Like a plane that disintegrates when cold

Yeah I mean why change anything ever. Just release a few new dial options each year and call them new models, or pull a breitling and decide overnight that you want your entire collection to look like ass.

Yeah, the chronomat was the only thing worthwhile on the list, and even that one left room for improvement. With any luck breitling will see sales dropping soon, scrap the childrens toys, and go back to making actual watches.

Just look at that superocean limited edition, I mean LOOK at it. Who would spend actual money on something like that? Breitling is turning into the guido of high-end watches.

Well, it's not like the swatch group, who rose up on the back of cheap and terrible watches, are a family owned business interested in preserving Omegas inheritance.

an opportunity to pile breitling in along with seiko, and we're all grateful for that, distancing oneself from the poor saps defining high-end by a mere few thousand dollars spent is truly worth taking your time to do.
