Thoughts on this Breitling Chronomat 44 Blacksteel

I think this piece is stunning. I already know the movement is rocksolid but what do you guys think of the color? I wonder how the black will handle scratches and dings. Does anybody own one? What is the strap like? Thanks guys.

Thoughts on this Breitling Chronomat 44 Blacksteel

Patton I like it a lot too. I am partial to black carbon treated Breitlings since I have one on my wrist now:

I think the Blacksteel treatment works well on the Chronomat and gives out a more subdued vibe
In comparison to the polished steel version. I am also of the opinion that the black treatment makes otherwise large Breitlings look visually smaller or more proportionate on the wrist.

Granted, this look is not everyone's cup of tea but if you like it you will definitely enjoy it.

My understanding is that the only way to repair scratches and dings on these watches is through bead blasting but don't quote me on it. Standard polishing processes do not apply to DLC finishes. These are supposed to be more scratch/ding resistant but everything has its limits and these are far from idiot proof.

No experience with that specific strap, but I can vouch for the quality and comfort of the Pro III diver rubber strap fitted to my B50 Cockpit Night Mission pictured above.

Not owning or ever having owned a blacksteel Breitling I can offer no valid experienced input other than to say it is indeed in my opinion a beautiful piece.

You see that's exactly what I was interested in. I know nothing about this type of finish. I really like how this watch does not stand out but is of superior quality being a Breitling. It also looks extremely cool. I only own one other Breitling and that is a NT blue eyed black. It has the same movement as this one pictured above but it's a completely different piece as you guys know. Thanks for your input!

It's a great looking piece but my only concern with an black watch is the long term appeal. I love how they look now but I'm not sure how I'd feel down the road. As with all Breitlings, resale won't be the best so you'd have to buy wisely on this one.

Buy it because you love it. Resale concerns? Buy used or from a remorseful buyer for a substantial discount.

Not going away anytime soon. Bamford seems to be doing well with their DLC'ed aftermarket Rolexes.
