Wow - it does say unavailable - someone may have beaten me to it! The slide rule looked very good to me given the water resistance of the 806s - maybe 2 good! Any other thoughts on franken parts?

Re: Vintage 806....... is it worth it...

Hi all - I am still waiting for the right 806 (thanks to you guys for giving me the advice to wait - it was the right call). Anyway 806s are still slim picking in Australia and I was about to source one from the UK and came across the below from a private seller. The lume and the slide rule looks insuch good condition I am not convinced they are not re-done/service replacements (the seller mentioned it has been kept in a drawer by its previous owner for an extendedperiod of time so that might explain the lack of 'ageing'. Keen to get the thoughts of the group on the watch in general!Name: 21269593_10159089950585012_1429809199_n.jpg

Watch looks correct except for the sliderule. A dial with the red "box 10" should have a matching " box 10" on the sliderule. Sliderule is most likely a replacement. Dial looks good.

Thanks for your help Buddman - much appreciated! What do you think about the lume - seems a bit too good condition - but if it has been in a drawer for decades then that might explain it...

You can never know for sure - best test is to see how much it glows. Tritium shouldn't glow for very long under light - maybe 15 seconds.so its something to get a guarantee on from the seller the you can return if the glow only briefly, or it does not fade evenly between hands and dial, if you do go ahead.

At the end of the day its often hard to know for sure and probably only 1% of the watch buying public would even notice or care about such things, but at the same time the things should be considered vs the price asked.
