Exquisite materials, workmanship and finishing. I have a collection of a few razors - a couple of Merkurs (slant and HD), a few vintage Gillettes (Slim Adjustable, Superspeed, New etc.) an original iKon open-comb, a Weber, a Jagger DE89. The Feather AS-D1 is just so nice to use - quite mild, but gives a BBS shave with a really sharp blade - like Feathers, Astra Platinums. The Feather razor is head and shoulders above any of the others in terms of fit and finish - it's like a finely made gun.

Hey Blue, and to think they're always calling us "Dumb Fly's"! ....

Red, ... I think it's best we fly off now, before one if them get's the swatter, or that nasty can of bug spray out! Remember the last time you got hit with that spray. You couldn't see for a week!

I will be using it tomorrow or Monday so I will post my impressions then. I also have the AS-D1, haven't had issues with it and think its great. I got the AS-D2 because some reviews said it was more aggressive and since sometimes I go 4-5 days without shaving and I really wanted the stand, I decided to pull the trigger.

In safety razors I have only tried feather, I thought it was a very well crafted, very solid razor. As I said above, supposedly the new one is more aggressive. I do think straight razors give you a closer shave, but it also takes me a longer time to shave with them.
