    "ALIFE COLLABORATION" - G-shock.... Value?

I found a guy who's willing to sell this watch.

    G-Shock News | Casio - G-Shock

Can I ask the forum experts what this watch would be worth? He wants $200 for the watch.

I'm creating this thread to appeal to my personal curiosity, as well as inform the members here if they want some watch that is super rare (it might not be) while he's selling it. He said there were only 200 made. Ever.

    Please respond.

I believe this is the model: G5500AL-1

it is not highly sought-after G, 200 made with some kind of extra print in the band, and 1000 without

it was retailed for 150-160 bucks

i personally would not pay more than 100 bucks for an used one - with 200 bucks I rather get the King

but what do I know? I am not a collab. collector

*btw, what's up with posting a .zip file ???

First of all, to understand what the value should be, we definitely need to know if it's Brand new w/ tags and all original packaging, or used and with what packaging, and in what condition. Also, the one with the Yellow Lightning bold going through it, is the much more rare model, there would 200 of those made and they're a substantial amount higher in value. I have one of the non-lightning bolt models. I think the value of the non-value bolt with no packaging, but really good condition is about $85-$110 perhaps.

Everything is in packaging. Tags and all. I just texted him to ask if it was the lightening bolt model or not.

I've been checking out peoples collections of "limited edition" stuff, I think that's where I'd like to aim my collection to. I guess my first pickup could be the "Maharishi", which is the current LE if I'm not mistaken.

With so many different watch models of G-shock, where do I even begin collecting? Should I aim for the limited edition stuff? Should I go with the regular watches that are mass produced? I don't even know where to begin..

They seem still to be available in some shops. Bought mine for around €160 in Barcelona, with a nice Stüssy shirt. It's not rare and not really a sought after model. I wouls say a BNIB is just worth the retail price.
There are only 10 kind of people. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

May I ask where you have seen them? With or without the lightning bolt?

I think the number 1000 units is an underestimate. This Casio version (without lightning bolt) had two releases around the world if I remember correctly.

I only collect the ones i want, and it doesn't matter if the G-Shocks i collect were mass produced or rare...

I bought the Alife collaboration because I really liked the G-5500 and the black with white colorway, and not because it was rare.
