    Boomslice Goes to G-Shockland

    Hello G-fans,
Finally, my trip to the mecca of G-Shock is upon me. I will be traveling in Japan for the next three weeks and wanted to hear everybody's insight + tips and tricks.

Obviously, I want to check out G-Shock stores and it seems the main/featured shops are here: G-SHOCK ?????? - G-SHOCK - CASIO

Of course there's Yodobashi Camera and other similar retailers that have quite large G-Shock displays as well.

What I would like to know, is any insight on some second-hand, used locations where I could maybe go treasure hunting. If anybody has stumbled upon great G Locations, share the wealth! I also want to find brand paraphernalia ie G-Shock shirts, stickers, keychains, whatever else really. Ideally I want to bring back a display case, and stands, but that's a long-shot.

General feedback on visiting Japan also welcome.

Try squid :O I want japanese fried squid so badly, plan on going on a trip to japan in a year or two. I dont have any advice other than buy a ton of Gs and enjoy life there! Would be cool if you started like a journal thread where you talked about what you did and the Gs you saw each day!

Check the PX Megastore in Kichijoji, they've got a decent sized collection of vintage models... here's a pic taken from G-Street

I found a vintage Men in Yellow Raysman in great condition there during my Japan trip last year.

There are also plenty other places I wasn't aware of, but this thread mentions a few .... Used G Shocks in Tokyo?

    Have a great trip - you'll have a blast!

do yourself a favor and visit one or two of the historic castles like Himeji. a friend of mine said they were really something else to behold in person.

well, i am fully jealous. i lived there for three years. Japan is an amazing place.

    a couples Qs:
where are you going? i assume to tokyo..
the main disctricts that i would hit up for gshocks would be: akihabara, shinjuku, shibuya, ginza, and harajuku. those burroughs comprise the electronics, gadgetry, and fashion centres of tokyo. the main streets of these neighbourhoods are lined with shops. though, when in ginza, the shops i am talking about are gucci, v. westwood, l. vuitton... akihabara is your best bet for electronics in tokyo.

outside of tokyo it is difficult to say as each city has their own "electronics district." major department stores such as seiya, or seibu would be good options.

second question: will you have a guide/interpreter?
having a local with you in a country like japan is as good as gold... even if you can speak the language.

third question: do you like fish?
please tell me you like fish. the food in japan is some of the best in the world. after you buy that new watch (or three) get yourself an ice cold yebisu and a plate of sashimi!!

boomslice, I hope you have a great trip my friend. I'm very jealous!! Make sure to bring lots of money. So many G's to choose from it would be tough for me if I was going. PS, did you pick up a Green King GX56-KG yet?

Enjoy my friend & hope to hear back from you soon

You plan a trip to Japan and you are just there to check out watches only? In my opinion. Just check out one watch place and then just check out the country side. Japan is a cool place with nice people. It makes you wonder how Imperial Japan got to be so strong.
    My daily five watches.

G-Shock MTG930DA-8V, G-Shock GW-5600J-1, Citizen Eco-Drive BM8180-03E, G-Shock Riseman GW9200-1, and a Vostok Amphibia with a Russian Navy missile ship and a Russian Tank on a stainless steel oyster watch band.
