    Brand hew GW7900b buttons locked.

So frustrating. Just got my new GW7900b from the mail carrier and after setting the time zone and pressing the light button a few times, none of the buttons work. I've read others with the same problem (along with losing rivets), but I really like the way it looks and caught a good deal on Amazon I couldn't resist.

Try to exchange it or call Casio. This was has been on
my wish list but now I'm hesitant the more I see these issues.

So did you buy it from a random person?...and not an authorized dealer? Wherever you bought it from, I would contact the seller ASAP, and try to return it for refund, and buy another one. If you're having a problem with that, I would then check with casio directly. But you're probably going to have better luck with casio if you bought it new from an authorized dealer. :/

Was a vendor that sells watches on amazon all the time. I contacted them and still waiting for a respose, but their return policy looks good. The only thing is I havetopay return shipping.
As far as the watch goes, I think I will go for a positive display. I realized in the few minutes I had it on in the house I prefer a positive display. Plus I don't want to take another chance.

You might want to consider a GW-9110 then. Same module, watch case and bezel of the Gulfman.

Another failed GW-7900? Jeez, this model became the modern day GW-300....

    cheers
A short Tutorial on „How to use and calibrate a Casio Altimeter“:

    1. Attach a string to your Casio AB(C) watch (feel free to use any length)
    2. Abseil the watch into an Abyss until you hold the string’s end between your fingers
    3. Get the watch up again
    4. Use a measuring tape to measure the string length
    5. Success! Now you have carefully calibrated the Altimeter
    6. Important!!! The Altimeter Lock will stay enabled, unless you shorten or lengthen the string

The seller will take it back. I'm going to ask for a refund. I'm not going to take the chance of that happening again.
@MRG, I was looking at those, but they are at least $100 more.
@cal, I Read your review on the MS and would love to have that on too. But it's hard to find or expensive. I may just buy the g7900-1.

Yeah, the all-black sadly is almost impossible to find these days. You could buy either a yellow or a blue G-7900MS:

    g-shock g-7900ms | eBay

...or simply go for the standard model (my recommendation is the olive drab - very stealthy, yet an enormous high-contrast positive display):

    g-shock g-7900 | eBay

Whatever G-7900 you choose to buy, I guarantee you, that there are no problems whatsoever and that you buy one of the best modules and best G's ever made in my opinion.

    cheers

p.s. should you go for a MS modell, be advised, that the nylon strap - while looks and wears gorgeous - takes forever to dry up once it's wet. That drove me crazy and as a result, I attached the black standard resin strap on my G-7900MS. Wasn't 100% happy with it either (which is strange, since I'm perfectly happy with the resin strap on my olive drab one), now I have installed adapters and wear the watch on a 24mm Maratac Zulu - best decison I could make. Very comfotrtable, looks great and dries up in no time.

Are you sure your watch didn't just go into 'recover' mode.

All solar Casios will go into 'recover' mode if you press the light switch a number of times consecutively. This means the buttons will not work temporarily until the battery has 'recovered' and this is not a fault, it is part of the solar watch design.

I wish it were just in recover mode. I tried the next day and still unresponsive.

Cal, are those the adapters for the 5600s? I think it looks better than the original nylon (don't like the puffy thinks near the case). I have a pair from my 5300 that I cannot use due to the resin rot bezel that I can use if I decide to get a g7900.
