Re: A Casio AW571 Gaussman short story

As I promissed, I am getting back with the second AW571 Gaussman rescue. Just bought the Shors watch presented in the attached pictures for ~9,5 $, free shipping, for dressing up the bezel-less AW571.
Any ideea how to mask the G Shors writting on the bezel?
The bezel and band are pretty similar (except the logo writing and the functions positions) in the pictures with the legit ones, but the bezel has a small hole on the right side, as seen in the pictures.
Would this non-legit bezel be an offence for my 2nd Gaussman? 😱

Are you sure this will fit?

I would be a bit surprised if it did to be honest.

I think a Gaussman worth a 10$ loss if it won't fit. I have to take that chance. If it will not fit I will make a kid happy with that Shors ☺!

the problem with alot of cheapies is there is no seperate bezel, the case and bezel is all one blob. if you can some how separate it or cut the parts off and glue them to the orignal it could be usable. def. need to black out or putty up the gshors text tho haha

gshors, its where your Gs wash up on after their party yacht capsizes :p

After magnifying the image showing the ss back of the Shors I saw that there is a bezel "applied" on the hard plastic case.

If this is what I will get in the package and if the dimensions will be the same with the original I will be able to dress the Gaussman with the cheap bezel.

New information and pictures to come!

Riseman strap (the used one I had after replacing the strap of my Riseman) with the printed "tough solar" and "twin sensor" erased with nail enamel thinner. The band fits perfectly this watch.
The original Gsussman band is like new and will be kept as spare for the other/new watch.
Waiting for the Shors bezel. The final result will be my demolition and gardening watch 🔨🔧🔩!
Update when the package will arrive.

Coming back with news, as promissed. The copy arrived and the bezel fits 95%. It is a little too tight on the hard body of the Gaussman.
First two pictures of the Shors.
The rest are showing the Gaussman dressed with the copy bezel. Description and details later today. Have a nice Sunday!

The button covers of the imitation are made of hard plastic material and they are not compatible with the Gaussman buttons.
I have to wear the watch as it is. I cleaned the writing on the bezel as much as possible, the remaining four are "mirrored" compared to the original.
The band of the Shors is 99% with the original, just the resin is harder.
Overall, for 9.36 $, the copy was a good "investment".
I am waiting for a friend to make a 3D printed bezel and I will come back with it.

Re: A Casio AW571 Gaussman short story

Well that is a good job.

Obviously it is far from perfect but it does make the watch wearable and as long as you don't look at it from the side it is not that bad.

It will be interesting to see if 3D printing works. The resin covered buttons are a bad design really as that is where the bezel is first going to fail, given the resin has to be flexible and thin.

Casio's failure to produce good quantities of replacement bezels make the watch a fairly short term prospect before disposal, especially as the resin composition of the 90s seems very susceptible to rot.

I 100% agree, Mitch. For gardening and for waking me up this is the perfect watch.
For the 3D you will have to wait a couple of weeks more.
Casio did a very good job with a lot of watches, but failed to arrange the spare parts over the years. This is increasing the fan's creativity 😁!
