A Casio AW571 Gaussman short story

The story begins in 2002, when I bought a used Gaussman from a friend of mine. Five years and a half it was my only G, being used for swimming, snoboarding, cycling and all other outdoor activities.
After that period the band started to show it's age and have small cracks around the upper holes. Because I couldn't find a replacement strap at that time I sold the watch.
After 14 years, digging on the internet for Frogmans and oder "man" G's I found the Gaussman presented in the pictures above in a like-new condition.
I guess you all know that this is the only watch released by Casio under that name, being in fact identical with the AW570, sold under the Mudman name. The display logo "GAISSMAN" and the ss back with the electrocuted mole are the main differences between the AW571 and AW570. They both used the 1700 module.
An interesting feature of this watch is the "domed" - curved mineral glass, being my only "G" that has it. Of course this watch is made in Japan, being produced in 1999 - 2000. Enjoy the pictures!

Now that is a cool watch! Love the mascot on the back with the lighting bolt.

Congrats on getting a watch you've been searching for. You finally got it again, must feel awesome to have in hand again. And such a nice and fresh example too.

Nice watch. Although not quite my style, I always thought the "GAUSSMAN" name & mascot were cool. Maybe if it had some wings

one of the best vintage analogs and best silhouettes imo. only thing that let them down was the weird and large spacing for the buckle holes. can never get a good fit ):

the white and the smoke ones have sexy titanium backs

Thank a lot, it is nice to have it again, and especially in a better condition. Now it's part of an extended collection, not an everyday watch :). It will last muuuch longer.

It is nice indeed. Depends on everyone's taste in G's, but I really like it.

You are right about the holes in the strap, because of them the adjustment is difficult, but overall is a well-designed watch for those years. All the best!

    Thanks!

Just found another Gaussman at a cheap price, everything ok, except the bezel.
Here is a new challenge for a 3D modelling and a 3D printer. I will let you all know the results after the first attempts for creating a bezel.
