I ordered a strap for a DW-6600 for all of my DW-6900's, same strap only with a metal buckle, the plastic may hold up well, but I just don't have any confidence in a plastic buckle that will determine if my G stays on my wrist or is lost.

This thread is a perfect example of how the economy has changed product control on G-Shocks.

I made a thread about it.

I hate to say it, but I think we will see G-Shocks lose it's "reliability" soon.

The MTG is retired and the 5600 too. Right now, the only working G-Shocks that I use and enjoy are the Riseman GW9200-1 and the GW6900-1

If I can own a Rolex Submariner I would. I know they are tough too, their homages are tough. Trust me.

I actually prefer the plastic buckle because for me it provides a chunkier overall feel to the watch. Also, it seem to be just slightly more comfortable to me than the dw-6600 with the metal buckle. Haven't had any issues with the plastic so I'm assuming it's pretty durable.

I have these plastic buckles on my 6900H models. In my opinion they are actually very comfortable. They re very strong, so you normally don't have to worry about breaking. One of mine actually was broken on arrival. It was due to bad packaging. The buckle ended in an unfortunate way in the stamp machine and was smashed to pieces... I guess buckles are not designed to survive smashes with a hammer.

I recently spotted a co-worker sporting a 6900, says it was a gift from his brother. I also noticed that it has the black plastic buckle. Apparently it's not an issue for him, or else he wouldn't be wearing the watch each day.

Funny, my G-Shock MTG930DA-8V came in a broken watch box and was rattling around in the shipping box like it was in a washing machine and completely survived.

I thought it was kinda cool though. A story to tell about how tough G-Shock watches are.

Overall, the problem is, they ship these big G-Shocks in cardboard watch boxes and the big G-Shocks are top heavy, and natural movement will almost always break the cardboard watch boxes.
