Cheap Plastic Buckle on New DW-6900??

Yesterday I received my classic Casios and from all of the Casios from the bunch, the DW-6900 had a "cheap plastic buckle". What is this? Did I get a fake DW-6900? I feel like I was short changed. I ordered these watches from Amazon.

No it's not fake thats standard on the DW6900. I can't imagine why they do that though, I mean I don't think a metal buckle costs that much more.

Whew!!! Thanks. You can see I'm not too familiar with the DW-6900. So this particular model always had the plastic buckle since it's introduction? I wonder how well the buckle lasted over the years, assuming the original strap was not replaced for a nato.

Not since its introduction, but for some time. It may date from the time production moved to China, but I'm not sure. I never minded the plastic buckle.
I used to list my watches here until I realised it ruined people's Google searches...

i actually liked the plastic buckle i took them off with some needle nosed pliers and attached them to my dw6900mc7a to go with the white and black scheme. i kept the original metal buckles as well, of course

My first DW6900G that I got in 1996 (I think) had already this plastic buckle. Don't remember, but I guess it was made in Malaysia back then.

Yea??? The plastic buckle feels so cheap. I doubt it will last me, as I go through the resin straps often. I've changed my 15 year old DW-8700 strap about 10+ times. I play a lot of sports, specially tennis and swimming and the straps are subjected to many elements, specially under sunny California weather and smog

funny enough, i have yet hear people complain about the plastic buckle breaking. i would imagine the strap will need replacement before the buckle itself breaks.

I happen to like the plastic buckle. black, light-weight, different.
I agree with 92, it will outlast the strap.
Besides, this is no cheap plastic, it feels very high quality,
    almost like it's reinforced.

Another thing to consider - the whole watch case is plastic
