Confused dim and difficult digi display on G-520D ?

Sadly my prized Gulfman DW-9700 has fell to pieces (the plastic shell that encases the main body) due to chemicals/petrol/wearing it all the time...anyone knowing of parts drop me a PM

So I grabbed a reasonably priced G-520D from EvilBAY and although I'm happy with the metal strap and general detail, I find the digital display hard to read (green on green).

Would new batteries improve the digital digits?

    :thanks

First of all, welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear about what happened to your precious Gulfman.

Regarding the G-520D, I don't think a new battery would improve the readability as this is negative display.

I have the G-521BD but I do not have problem reading the negative display though.

    Cheers,

cheers MM, I guess with a black background its much easier...

It was something in the manual that lead me to wonder:
"Battery: The batteries are fitted at the time of manufacture and should be replaced at the first sign of low power (no light or dim display) by your dealer or CASIO distributor"

now its keeping time just fine, back light works fine, but the dim display is the thing thats got me thinking...

just thought I'd see if anyone else with this model has the same experience

You know it's time for a battery when the display dims/goes away when you try to use the backlight. If you use the backlight and can read the display fine, the battery should be fine. In that case...it's just another hard-to-read negative display. If you hit the EL, and the display is very hard to read still, time for a battery.

    Welcome mate.

Since the EL is functioning, it's obvious the battery is not low.

I have attached a pic of my G-521BD for comparison.

hmmm maybe not, that doesnt seem to easy to read either (maybe it is just the design).

So very used to my other model (8+ years).

I also dont think I'm mr analog, always been a digital kid but it'll do for now
