I am looking into gettting into the G world. Looking to get one SOON! Had my mind set on the Gulfman since I can get one for $75 but LOVE the look of the Frgman but why is it $300-$500?

I just got a frogman today and yes it is pretty cool looking in person however I just don't know if it is worth the price to me. My view of it is that the frogman is a watch that was designed as the premier digital dive watch, granted I am no diver but perhaps for the cost it is a bargain in the world of dive watches. Most of us like them because they look cool and maybe it means something to a collector to have one in his collection. Also from as much as I can tell they are produced in smaller quantities than most other g shocks. This plays into the whole supply and demand game. Which in turn drives up cost. Personally I purchased one just to have one in mall small but growing collection.

Well...it's a full Ti case surrounding the module, so there is an extra expense in materials.
The rest of the price difference is made up by limiting production, thereby keeping demand high.

I have one and they are very nice ( i couldn't/wouldn't have purchased it if I hadn't gotten lucky on ebay)3 hundred dollars+. It's like having a big fancy off-road vehicle that never sees the dirt....fashion/status thing
and again I do like them...and would bathe in tub of them if I could![]()
I differ from Tribe on this point. There are quite a few reasons why the Frog is different and justified in it's higher MSRP price. Street prices vary wildly, and I'm not talking about street prices, as someone will pay what is worth to them, not you.
Actually, if one were to examine the MSRP of many of these watches, the Frogman is not that different or that much higher. The difference is there isn't usually a discount on the Frogman, as there is on other models (due to supply vs. demand in my opinion).
For instance, the MSRP of a GW810BXD-1 is $200. It may have atomic in addition to solar, but lacks longer stopwatch features, longer timer features, lacks multi-site memory, and lacks full titainium case construction with a screwback design. The MSRP of a Frogman is $300, for the better case construction and more expensive back design (screwback versus 4-screw plate construction). I'm not saying one caseback design is better, only that a screwback is surely more expensive to produce due to extra machining, etc.
Would I pay an extra $100 for full titainium case and screwback construction...yep.

My Frogman was totally worth it to me. Tons of great features and awesome styling. You'll have to decide whether it's worth it to you.
Thanks. I truly think it's overlooked that the Frogman has a full titanium case. Titanium in watches is usually a sign of a premier or upgraded version, from what I've seen.
And I'd prefer to not buy one at retail, but to get the model you want in a Frogman, retail is usually the case (and sometimes you're luck to get it at retail). If only they were priced and as available as 'normal' models.
I'm most excited for an updated Frogman. That would be fantastic (provided they make the perfect changes to it).

I don't see the cost of titanium making such a big difference, I think it's much more to do with them being limited in number. I was looking at an analogue watch in a high street jewellers which has all titanium case and bracelet for £49 (not clearance price). This same shop sells the G-9000 Mudman at £69.
I don't have a problem with making limited numbers of luxury items because only a small number of people will want (or be able) to pay the necessarily high price, but limiting a relatively cheap item to inflate the price annoys me a bit.
