G-Shock Travels or Return of the Traveling G

In 2009, we had a series of threads in which we followed the travels of one G-Shock as it was sent around the world from one member to another. As we followed the watch, we got to know something of the members who were its temporary "guardians" and got something of a virtual "guided tour" of the cities and towns in which the members lived. (It actually ended up being two G-Shocks; the first one went missing. The second one eventually did too, as I recall before the watch had gotten to everyone who had signed up.)

Here are a few of the threads from that series:

    G-Shock travels - Stop #2

G Shock Travels - Welcome to Dublin...many, many, many, pictures

    G-Shock Travels/Manhattan: G-Shock Goes to the Theater - Part I

I recently bought a DW-6900-1 from Amazon -- with the idea of reviving the G-Shock Travels series. Would folks be interested in participating? Your mission would be to take the watch on a trip or two around your environs -- while wearing the G-Shock of courses -- and sharing the story and the photos with us. You would then mail the watch to the next person on the list of volunteers.

If folks are interested, I'd be happy to create and maintain a master list of names and addresses -- and send the watch out to the first recipient. We should probably limit the total number of people to somewhere between 5 and 10. And it would obviously be great to have folks from different places around the world.

Let me know what you think -- but DO NOT post any names or addresses in this thread. If there is enough traction, I can gather those via PM.

Sounds fun. I'm in. I'll be in Thailand in the last week of June. If I get the watch before my travel, I will have cool stories and pics to share.

I'll join in this fun. There's some beautiful scenery around the Brecon Beacons that the watch could enjoy.

Re: G-Shock Travels or Return of the Traveling G

Here are the first 6 travels of three years ago gathered together.

    GShock-World-Travels

It doesn't have the Dublin story, unfortunately, which was story 7 (I remember I sent my watch to Cooler). Maybe I should try to figure out if I can work something out with JesterCA in preserving these WUS posts also in his G-Shock Travels blog (it's been a long time, I did have a password a long time ago. I also have my hands full on my other two weblogs...).

I hope the watch will make a full travel. The G-8000 was already the second watch in the G-Travel round. Actually, as you can see in my report, it almost walked out of my garden too...

I would like to see G-Travels continue. I would love to see it end up in East Asia, Germany and Australia too (a tour in Oak Park Chicago would be really nice, ).

    Cheers,

    Sjors
