    GA 1000 or GG 1000?

I thought I had decided on the GA-1000, but the GG-1000 also has a compass feature but with "hypothetically" better sand and mud resistance. Is there much truth to the mud resistance advertising of the GG 1000? I would be using one of these watches under high UV conditions, in sand, rock climbing, hiking, in extreme dry heat, in rain, mud, and some snow and ice in the winter. I don't want to spend more than $200 as I can guarantee this watch won't look pretty for long.

+1 to the GA1000 for the ultra-cool UV backlight!

Yes, I totally agree. I'm just wondering if the GG 1000 would be better suited for my situation since the buttons are said to have a different seal design?

It really comes down to personal preference, I think both watches are probably tough enough to hold up to whatever you throw at them. However, I do think that the GG is the more rugged design, even down to the texture of the band. Plus the GG1000 shares the lug design of the GWG, which is ultra comfortable. For your needs I'd go with the GG.

I think you are correct Knives and Lint, the GG 1000 will be my gift to myself.

One fact that many times we forgot in front of the "looks" is how the size of the watch has a negative effect in our activities. Both these are on big side of Gs and some times you feel it when you have to wear tide clothes, gloves, juckets etc. Me personal, I had to deal with that many times. If the features of these watches are not critical for you in what you do concider use a basic model like Dw-6900, G9000 mudman and G9100 gulfman.

Good point, I have the DW6900 and a G9000, but was really hoping to get a compass function in a watch that could keep the dirt out and I could just bang around. The G9000 can do this, but I want to keep it and the DW6900 in good shape. Size is an issue....especially rock climbing, the bigger the watch the more it takes hits.

Thanks! That is the stock GG-1000-1A5. I replaced the clasp with black but that's not in the pic.

    The Oakleys are customized though.

The strap looks so much whiter in your photo an in the sales photos via the Gshock website, hence my question. Thanks!
