Thumbs Down How to deal with Thailand watches

Unfortunately all my Thailand-made Gs have to go through this:

That's my 9300 Muddy. I open the case back and stick it in a hermetic jar with a CaCl2 pot for a couple of days, and then close it up again in a warm and dry day. It's not really a biggie, but not exactly cool either .
Let's see if the models form the new China plant are free from fogging.

I often wonter too how those facilities in Thailand look like. Clearly not any hermetic sealed rooms with proper air condition and therfore low humidity....

I like your method though, still not exactly the way it should be to deal with a watch that is not required ever to get opened...

A short Tutorial on „How to use and calibrate a Casio Altimeter“:

    1. Attach a string to your Casio AB(C) watch (feel free to use any length)
    2. Abseil the watch into an Abyss until you hold the string’s end between your fingers
    3. Get the watch up again
    4. Use a measuring tape to measure the string length
    5. Success! Now you have carefully calibrated the Altimeter
    6. Important!!! The Altimeter Lock will stay enabled, unless you shorten or lengthen the string

Thailand has swampy weather. The watches assembled there have a tendency to fog the inner glass when the weather gets cold. Condensation. Just like the outside of a cold soda can.

He's de-humidifying the air the watch breaths. Thus avoiding inner "fog."

I didn't realize this was a problem with some of them. I wonder if it happens more during manufacturing that occurs during certain humid times of the year?

Apologies for not explaining, my bad. But bajachild explained it perfectly.

That could be it, depending on the time of the year it could get worse or better. Funny thing is that the first case of fogging I had was with my 9010 Muddy, and now with the 9300 too. Another one that I have to de-humidify is the G-7510, which I think is my worse case so far.
    Cheers!

It's not a problem per se, since there's nothing wrong with the watch, it's more something that bugs me. If you ever take your watch to a cold climate it may happen, though.
If you want to do and experiment, dip your watch in hot water for a couple of minutes, pull it out and then drop a drop of icy water on the crystal. If there's humidity inside the case, the crystal will fog.
    Cheers!

Re: How to deal with Thailand watches

Given enough time the humidity inside the watch and outside will be the same - it's called diffusion. And there is no such thing as a gas-proof G-Shock. So it doesn't bother me much. It's mostly just a tiny spot on the crystal and won't harm the watch in any way. So I won't bother opening a G because of fogging.

    cheers, Sedi

If this were a really big problem, Casio would take measures like introducing some climate control in the their assembly facilities. At least just where they do the final assembly.
