    Latest "faulty" G pick up

    Good morning

I had another "maximum and only bid" win on eBay last night of a GW-3000B-1AER. I've been interested in getting one of these for a while now, but they usually go for way too much for my sort of budget.

I got this one for £49.

Anyway, this is part of the seller's description, which piqued my interest straight away:

"I am selling it as spares or repairs as I cannot reset the time to English time. If you downloaded manual you might be able to reset it. Also it seems to have a problem with the wet as it has a steamed face when plunged in water"

So I'm guessing either the gasket is pinched, missing or broken. The other reason is potentially something up with a button gasket, or e-clip missing.

I'll wait till it arrives to see. A quick search on eBay and Tiktox came up with nothing for the gasket, so I'll probably give Casio UK a call if one is required, as they normally come up trumps.

The one decent photo on his listing, (the shot of the rear is totally blurred!), doesn't show anything but it looks in great condition. There's a few little nicks on the bezel, but only what I would expect from a used G.

LOL, I love watches where the owner knows little about it - I picked up a really cheap Seiko Kinetic because the watch was faulty as the 'second hand jumped in 2 second intervals'!

    Restarting a missing thread!

Apologies if you've all seen this, but I can't find a thread I started a few days ago, so maybe it didn't upload properly? Either that or it was deleted for some reason, so I needed to restart it.

Anyway, this is another G I picked up under the "faulty" umbrella.

It's a GW-3000B-1AER, a watch I've quite liked over the years, but they usually go for too much for me.

I chucked in a single bid of £50 and that was enough to snag it.

The seller says: "I am selling it as spares or repairs as I cannot reset the time to English time. If you downloaded manual you might be able to reset it. Also it seems to have a problem with the wet as it has a steamed face when plunged in water".

So it looks like the gasket is missing/split/hasn't been put back properly. Either that or a button gasket is missing, or an e-clip.

It doesn't sound too drastic, and it's pictured with a clear face.

It's been dispatched today, so I'll return to this when it arrives.

Wow, it's $330.00 on Amazon new. If you get it working you'll definitely have a score. Good luck.

    Yeah, they are expensive new!!

I think it is working, it just needs investigation as to the apparent moisture ingress issue.

The setting back to UK time shouldn't be a problem, instruction manual download from Casio is they way to go!!
