My First G-Shock (lots of pics)

    Howdy Everyone,

This forum inspired me to expand my current collection with a G-Shock. I wanted the basic model because I didn't know if I would like it once I got it. I got the DW5600E-1V. I ordered it from Amazon.com for $39.50 shipped. Well, it came today and I absolutely love it!!! It's very classic while still fitting in with my modern preferences. I took some pictures of the unboxing and a couple (bad) wristshots.

I have one question though -- is the "top left" button supposed to be recessed into the watch more than the other buttons? I didn't know if this was normal, but I assume since it's the "adjust" button that they did that in order to prevent accidental presses.

Let me know what you think!

    Best regards,
    Ross

PS -- When I took these pictures, I hadn't set the time, year , date yet - I was too excited! All set now, though :)

Great pics ! Looks excellent on the wrist - can't say about the recessed button. I have the GW-M5600BCJ which is similar but I don't know if its identical in respect of the button set - I'm sure someone can tell you who owns this exact watch.

Thats a very good start.Everyone should have this iconic G in theyr collection.I bought mine from Walmart for 39.00.It has a really bright backlight.Mine thinks its atomic because it is very accurate ,,Maybe plus or minus 1 scond per week.I like it because it looks like the origanal DW5000.Very cool and welcome to the forum.

The adjust button is sapposed to be recessed to avoid accidental pushing of the adjust button.

Congrats on this timeless (thus far, anyway) G-Shock classic! Among the top few truly "representative" models.

Hope you enjoy it as much as many other members here. Welcome to the G-Club!

Yes that button is normal- Isn't that a great watch for about $40? I end up only wearing that watch. I have the gw5600, and I don't like it as much as the dw5600. I like the dw5600 because it is very comfortable, simple, and you can see the time displayed in all functions which is great. My band is showing signs of wear after about a year so I went and ordered the g 7700. I think that the weak link of these watches is the band that will break. I think that you can get a new band for about 20 bucks or else just get a whole new watch. Enjoy
