Need advice for a friend

Hey guys, a buddy of mine is looking to pick up a G-Shock. Naturally, I thought you fellows would be the best to ask. He's looking at model AWG100-1A.

I mean, it looks cool, is reasonably priced, and G-Shocks have a good rep around here, but I've never owned one myself, so I'm not totally comfortable telling him to get it over any other watch for any reason (even over other G-Shocks). What are your opinions? Anything I should look out for? Any alternatives?
