Thumbs Up New arrival: ana/digi GA-110C-1ACR unboxing pics :)

Traded straight up with another member for my PAG-40 Pathfinder. This is a sweet G-shock, i was a little worried about having yet another black G but i really like this model for several different reasons:

    1. Lightweight! nearly the same size as a GX-56 but weighs nearly half as much. barely even notice it's on the wrist, but it's big enough to command notice.

    2. first ana/digi G, and it functions really nicely. has a "speed hand" that has to be zeroed-out for the hour/minute hands to be set by, then setting your home city and time sets the hands in motion. both hour and minute hands run BACKWARDS in some cases to quickly follow your commands, which is kind of crazy to watch happen automatically.

    3. the band, for my 8" wrist, has to be set at the 2nd-to-last notch, but there is an extra inch of notch-less band at the end to keep it secure in the strap-holder. there are also little ratcheted notches on the inside of the band to hold the strap-holder in place and keep it from slipping off, and they are small enough to be unnoticeable as far as comfort.

    4. buttons are nice and grippy, cool texture, but still soft and easy to press.

    5. watch is not actually black, but a muted, soft gray color. between the case, buttons, and all the bits on the face, there are probably ten different shades of dark/light gray used on this watch; the details are much more subtle in person, and quite classy for a huge G-Shock in my opinion.

enough jabber, on to the pics :)

    few more things:

    1. the lume is a little dissapointing. if i'm not mistaken it's an LED instead of EL; it doesn't backlight the watch screen like most G's, but instead there is a single point of light at the bottom of the watch that shines on the rest of the watch face. gives kind of the same effect of shining a flashlight under your face at a campfire; some details are a little brighter, and some are lost. the digital bit is hard to see with the lume, it basically only lets you light up the analog parts of the watch. seems a strange choice for such a cool design, but who knows, maybe it's better for battery life; the battery for this watch is rated at 7 years, so we'll see.

    2. the "speed hand" that controls the movements of the hour/min hands is surrounded by a small circle that is actually a chrome/mirror finish. i tried to capture it in the pics, but its a bit hard to see; very cool subtle detail that i love, and adds to the feeling of the watch overall. the digital face itself is only slightly reflective, which looks nice because it's not too distracting, and is more gray than silvery. the only complaint about the face is that the digits/letters are not dark enough; i was thinking of reversing the display but i think it would be very hard to see considering how faded the digits appear now.

all in all, a very solid G, and for less than $100 you can find yourself one on ebay. if you've been thinking about getting one, i recommend it; nice addition to the collection.

(EDIT: sorry about the cellphone pics, all i have at the moment)

looks like i got a little distracted in that one pic; it's hard to focus on the watch when something else lovely walks by, lol.
