ya saw this, but i think casio are gonna struggle with this too as its competing with the fenix.
only thing this has going for it is its cheaper by $100.

the areas around the lugs seem pretty thick, maybe thats where they put the gps stuff in ala older suuntos.
still quite a big piece, i think i may hold out for the fenix 5s.

Funny. They now added the Pro Trek name to the watch. I guess they feel that will add some credibility to the watch.

As I've mentioned here before, I really like last year's WSD-F10. The dual display is a great option and really helps with battery life but, head to head, it isn't quite as good as the Nixon Mission. We'll see how this one plays out!

casio needs to stop trying to compete with the garmins and suuntos...

Looks like a nice gen2 model and it will ship with Android Wear 2, which adds ability to make and receive calls and is less dependant on the phone. You can install apps independent of the phone too. Only downside I see is retaining the side charging port. Users have complained it's unstable. Most AW watches use a cradle. Looks promising overall.

My issue with ANY of these new 'smartwatches' is the VERY limited shelf life of the included technology. As great as this watch may be, it makes last years model already obsolete and arguably might become just as obsolete itself in just another year.

I do very well realize that such cycle is inevitable, yet I for me to consider buying such gadet (or any gadet for that matter), it has to offer more than just being the flavor of the day. It has to include some sort of break though in engineering and mark some memorable pinnacle with it's included technology.

E.g. my first digital camera a Sony DSC-T1 was not only the first flat digital camera, it also used premium materials, that to this day rivial the current competition in some areas. The camera is long outdated, but I'm still happily using it, not only because it still works great, but also because it still manages to convey the same premium feeling that it had when I bought it (over 12 years ago for $750 + incredible $250 accessories).

In other words, I would be looking for G-Shock features with replacable bezel, saphire crystal, high resolution display that will stay very readable even under direct sunlight and so on. That way, should the watch some day become obsolete, the reflection of it's glory days and it's unchainged present physical quality would be still compelling enough to enjoy it.

This would put them on another level,it's surprising that this has not been considered

I think the smartwatch is not increasing sales, but the market is with sport watches, Garmin is a winner in 2016, others was declining...
The reason is a good product, very full in features and customized apps, smartwatch features, notifications, for example.
Casio must run in this direction in my opinion
The best Casio G-Shock is the next one...
