What do you guys think?
I love my new G-306x-1adr and I think I am the first one here on the forum to have one of these.
This is part of the G-Spike series by Casio, the G-Spike series is a fashionable series with a young and hip design. Also there is connections towards the motor world. This particular model is part of a subgroup within G-Spike called Street Rider or Rough Rider. The G-306x-1adr and the white version the 7adr is called Exhaust Wheel. It is very unique and has gone trough a unique threatment. I tried to find out wht it was and here is a translation from Japanese about what it is that creates the really cool and shiny polychrome bezel:
"It is a design to image motor sports and popular G-SPIKE. "Exhaust wheel" here reproduces iris coloring that appears to the muffler etc. of the racing car in the metal part of bezel by a polychrome ion plating. Monotone is adopted so that the arrangement of color of the main body and the character board may set off brilliance in the bezel part. The metal parts that shine to a simple design are unique models."
Here is a nascar exhaust system where you can see a little polychrome effect in the welding:
The unusually wide wristband(its 24mm all across the lenght of teh band) is rough and the pattern makes me think of motorcycle tires:
I love products with this kind of clear design storys. Thats part of the reason I bought it. Casio designers unfortunatelly only allow themself to play like this with a few of their models for instance the old Riseman who had a case that was made to look like the backpack of a WWII parachute backpack and from the sides it was made to resemble the exhaust of a jet fighter.
As far as functions go it is pretty standard with a 12/24 hour time mode, world time for 27 cities(29 time zones)(you can set the analogue part to one time and have another time in the digital LCD), it also have 5 alarms including 1 snooze and hourly chime, 60 minutes CTD and 60 minutes stopwatch with split time and 2 finishes and EL light for the LCD. Runs on 2 silver oxide SR927 batteries with a life expectancy of 2 years. So the module is fairly standard when it comes to ana/digi G's. Nothing fancy just the basics.
The size as measured by me is HXWXT= 51mmX46mmX16mm so it is actually close to Gulfman size but it is shaped in a way so that it wears and look smaller. It looks almost as small as a DW-5600 on your wrist just abit thicker. But I have no problem with its size and I think it looks really good on my 7.1"(18CM) wrist. I also love about this model that it manages to be both colorfull aswell as stealthy at the same time(the inner bezel ring is all stealthed and the dial is all black with negative LCD).
This is my first analoge digital G and I like it alot!![]()
