Lightbulb Press Release: CASIO ANNOUNCES NEW ADDITION TO PATHFINDER LINE OF WATCHES

CASIO ANNOUNCES NEW ADDITION TO PATHFINDER LINE OF WATCHES
Latest Pathfinder Timepiece Challenges Even the Most Adventurous to Keep Moving

DOVER, NJ, September 22, 2009 – When spending time in the great outdoors, there are several tools needed to prepare you for the elements– a compass to point you in the right direction, a barometer to warn of any fast-coming storms, a thermometer to monitor any sudden temperature changes and an altimeter to ensure elevations are always managed. Casio’s PAG40-7V, the latest member of the Pathfinder line of sporty, rugged timepieces, features all of these tools in a sophisticated multi-color watch ideal for roughing it in the outdoors.

Known for delivering timepieces with the outdoorsman in mind, Pathfinder continues its tradition of making active lives easier by combining key tools with style and comfort for use in outdoor activities. The PAG40-7V features a thermometer; digital compass, which measures and displays directions as one of 16 points; an altimeter measuring -2,300 feet to 32,800 feet; and a barometer displaying atmospheric pressure essential for a day of maximum activity and high energy.

“Casio is dedicated to developing functional and fashionable timepieces suitable for every outdoorsman,” says Shigenori Itoh, Vice President of Casio’s Timepiece Division. “The PAG40-7V has great features, including a strong frame perfect for enduring all of nature’s elements and comfortable band ideal for all-day use.”

The PAG40-7V includes a unique tri-tone case of black, green and white, enhancing visual appeal and also making it an attractive wrist accessory. Button guards prevent against accidental operation of sensors and enhance practicality of the timepiece while a large Duplex LCD display makes reading time, measurements and graphs easy. For less eye strain and visibility in low-light conditions, it features an Auto EL Backlight function which automatically illuminates the backlight with the tilt of the wrist for hands free operability.

This new timepiece encompasses all of the features that the Pathfinder line is known for including water resistance up to 100 meters, five daily alarms, 1/100 second stopwatch, an auto calendar and 12/24 hour formats. Additionally, the PAG40-7V is built with low-temperature resistance to accommodate cold weather conditions. Weighing in at 2.6 ounces, the newest Pathfinder is a lightweight watch, assembled to withstand the elements wherever you go.

The Pathfinder PAG40-7V will be available this holiday season, exclusively on www.Amazon.com with an MSRP of $200.

The PAG-40 is an old model. It seems it is revived with a new model. -7V points to a white color. It could be the case, but I think it is for some parts or even the lettering.

This press release hasn't even hit casio's US website yet. But, it isn't the Pathfinder press release I was hoping for... at least there are a couple online retailers already carrying the PAW2000 before it is even mentioned on the corporate site.

Every time I see a news like this I'm hoping it's finally a ABC G-Shock...

We all know it's comming just not quite yet. And that's a good thing for my wallet since it's still recovering from new frog.

    Can't wait for ABC Gshock!

The color scheme sure seems interesting, will be interesting to see the pictures of it!

So this is a US Amazon release only?

Strange that casio revives this old 2001 model, I was skind of hoping for something new and revolutionary that would once again put casio on top of the ABC market!

I have already spotted some of the varied color schemes on a couple websites, I think this may be one last Hoorah for the PAG-40 series series before they finally retire the mould for the watch.

If they are going to do an ABC G shock, the module they are using in the PRW2000s is the the most compact ABC module to date, leaving room for internal bumpers and big bezels. Yes, that would be awesome...

Picture Re: Press Release: CASIO ANNOUNCES NEW ADDITION TO PATHFINDER LINE OF WATCHES

Outside of the US the Protrek PRG-40T 7V is fairly common, I wonder if they are simply planning on adding this one to the Pathfinder line?

Or will it be a white release for the holidays? Pricing certainly indicates a revitalization of the 40 in some form, maybe a re-run of the PRG-40K-7

The 40 is a modern classic, with one of the best displays ever, lets hope it`s not a "swan song"

I'd pick up another 40 or two if I knew it were disappearing. I just love the clarity of the display which is unsurpassed by anything else I've seen.

Re: Press Release: CASIO ANNOUNCES NEW ADDITION TO PATHFINDER LINE OF WATCHES

When I think about Pathfinders and Protreks, the PRG-40 always comes to my mind as a true and tried classic, and THE Protrek watch that very well defines and rounds up the whole series.

These days there are many more models available, but for me the PRG-40 will always be the model where it all started to get 'serious' :)

Big thumbs up for Casio to re-launch thus model, probably as an LE to commemorate the long and successful life of this popular and capable outdoor tool.

Re: Press Release: CASIO ANNOUNCES NEW ADDITION TO PATHFINDER LINE OF WATCHES

amazon.com USA currently offers "Casio Men's Pathfinder Triple Sensor Altimeter/Barometer/ Digital Compass Green Watch #PAG40-3V" for 120.97USD with free shipping. so marketing decision to add titanium version for more sales?

The press announcement seems unusual, amazon USA exclusive PAW1300Y did not get an announcement AFAIK.
