So you departed off the East Coast? I assume since you live on this side. Did you go through the Canal to Honolulu? Two months at sea, I'd go crazy. I have to see land at all times. That way I know I could swim to shore. :)

Did you get commissioned a new ship? This one looks bigger than the other ship you've posted.

Yes, I'm and Idiot. I just re-read his post now, several hours later, and realized he stated where he was. I skimmed the thread earlier and saw where the picture was taken in Hawaii.

Re: Rock the Kobe - The official 9400FBJ-4JR Rangeman owners thread

Sorry for the confusion....I drove to California to get the job and sailed the ship from Long Beach CA to Hawaii, Guam, the 3 ports in China, then back to CA via the great circle from Shanghai, sailing between Honshu and Hokkaido, Japan, passing just south of the Aleutians back to Long Beach, a 36 day voyage. Then I drove home back across the USA.

Transiting 9 time zones twice at sea gave plenty of opportunities to play with the 15 watches I had brought with me, especially since we changed time 20 minutes per watch during the day, so, for example, eastbound we advanced 20 minutes each day at 1000, 1500 and 1800. So I had on my left wrist my black Rangeman while working 0400-0800, on my right wrist I wore my Tritium lit Deep Blue Miyota diver set to GMT, then I put on my DW-5600E at breakfast to work on deck, set 20 minutes ahead so I would be at lunch on time. In the afternoon I wore on my right wrist my custom Pepsi 8926 with 24 hour bezel set 40 minutes ahead until after dinner. On my left wrist I wore my green Rangeman with positive screen set to navigation time zone for plotting GPS position on charts hourly during my 1600-2000 bridge watch.

Did all this for 9 days straight until we were back on Pacific time. I used all 5 alarms on both Rangeman as well as using my new green GD-400 as a bedside alarm clock (bunkside). Also had my GWX-5600 secured to my sea bag as a tide table and alarm for reminders to send synoptic weather reports every 6 hours.

The other mates relied on my Rangeman for barometric pressure and barograph for weather reports when they realized how accurate and convenient it was. Each guy asked for the model number so they could buy one.

It was fun getting the atomic Casio to sync and update with the Japan and China transmitters.

The gang of 15 at sea, all accurate to with 3 seconds of one another:

The Mudman, GW-3000, Gulfmaster, green Rangeman, GWX and ProTrek have all sync'd this day. For some reason the black Rangeman did not this day, though it did sync other days.
