    Timex And Casio

I've had my first G Shock (GW5600J) for a week and I absolutely love it. I keep coming back to a few areas where Timex definitely has Casio beat as far as user friendliness and functions. First trying to set anything on the G when it's dark is a nightmare. The light stays on for a second and a half and you have to push it multiple times to see what you are doing. Timex has a nightmode feature, light stays on much longer and will continue to stay on as you push any button. The other thing is display clarity. My Timex 100 lap flix Ironman has a very large, extremely clear display with amazing contrast. Also the digits are literally twice as large as the ones on the 5600. I read a post somewhere where an owner said that the Timex display has to be the highest quality that is out on the market right now. Yes these are small items but as far as user friendliness they are huge. Is Casio not interested in competing with brightness, clarity, and contrast that Timex gives?? or with small features that make navigating the watch easier?? I guess at the same time I could be asking why Timex isn't making a much sturdier heavy duty watch to compete with the G Shocks. What do you think?? Does anyone who owns Timex know what I mean???

Casio just too busy researching its solar panel and atomic timekeeping technology and thinking of ways of adding new function to their watches. display and clarity, im guessing is in the bottom of the list. they havent really seek to it yet.

Definately agree. The functions on my Timex Ironman Datalinks are superior to my G's.

I am not really fussed about the heavy duty issue. I can't really imagine doing anything to destroy the Timex, or if it did then there is a good chance that my wrist would also be in trouble.

If the Timex ever breaks down, then I'll just pull another one out of my fleet of NASA Approved Timex Datalinks.

The watch display is at the bottom of their list????? Doesn't sound too smart if you make watches.

SML knows what I mean. To navigate a Timex is a much better experience than a G. It seems Timex is more in tune with the watch wearer.

    Re: Timex and Casio

Of the several Timex watches I have had, all had plastic crystals. And they scratched easily. I also found that the buttons were too easy to push, and would sometimes push themselves. So, even they have some shortcomings. Good thing there are dozens of brands and hundreds of styles so each of us can find something to like.

I agree both have shortcomings, this was my point. When does one company take the best of both and combine them into one timepiece??
