TOKYO. TOKYO. a G-5500TS-9 in wolfs clothing

    hey there Watchnerds!

I recently pulled the trigger on what was going to be my third G-5500TS-9(er), the blindingly yellow mudsquare dedicated to TOKYO.

    I got three TOKYOs now.
spaced out classic design dedicated to the most far out city on the planet!
    I love it..!

    TOKYO. TOKYO.

    --> YMO

    ahem

    ~

my plan was to redress it into a very grey G-5500TS-8 NYC version, since I always fancied one but never found one for a decent price (as very much opposed to the yellow model).
Mr. the Craters relentless promotion of this grey beauty didn't help me in avoiding it...

yesterday I got my Resins and went to work:

    1. getting ready:

    ~

    2. the grey wolf's coat

    ~

    3. last shot/first shot

    ~

    4. not quite the sum of the parts yet:

    ~

    5. first shot/last shot

    ~

    6. what a change of character!

    ~

    7. mandatory wristshot

    ~

    8. and here my all TOKYO gang

original resins // G-5500-1 resins // NYC resins

    thanks for watching

    best,
    Mikey

Great choice, you have good taste for watches My apologies for posting all the photos of mine, I didn't know you were in such pain everytime

I am jelalous though of your black 5500 with white lettering. Now I know how you felt lol

Now your grey wolf looks much better then mine, all new and shining.

Enjoy wearing it, it's by far my favourite watch.

About a year ago I found out I had also the NYC model, but I could not remind buying it. I love the (pale) yellow TYO model. I should get myself a second one to wear. As I love YMO, that's a nice video. I have edited your post to get the video embedded (as you now can see). Nice photography too, btw. Enjoy your NYC/TYO G-Shock

    Cheers,

    Sjors

How were you able to buy the grey bands and bezel and the rubber boot where they are listed as discontinued?

I'm happy for having two spare yellow resin sets for my original TYO now, makes me wear it without hesitating.
and I knew you'd comment on YMO - what a fantastic Band!

I also have a G-5500TS-9 but I'm not excited about this watch. The buttons are hard to press and annoyingly 'unpredictable'. I can hardly imagine successfully using the stopwatch. When you need to press the button three times to start timing the results get somewhat imprecise. Another nuisance are the background letters when the light is turned on which considerably reduce display visibility (the more darkness the less readability). The watch is not bad when you can get it for half of the suggested retail price. Otherwise I'd go for a Solar 5600/5610.
