Tools needed to remove links from GW4000D

    Hey guys,

I've recently ordered a GW4000D as my first G shock watch, and it will be coming sometime next week (can't wait!).

I have fairly skinny wrists and I'm afraid I will have to remove some links. What tools will I need to remove them from the GW4000D?

    Thanks!

I think this may be a little bit of overkill from the OPs question -the poor guy only wants to remove a few links, not open a workshop

I'm not sure how the bracelet of the GW4000 attaches it's links, but my GW2500 was shortened by the use of a simple good quality 'springbar' tool. The links are intertwined with each other via a small springbar in the middle.

Maybe someone can confirm if the GW4000 bracelet is similar?

If he bothers to read that thread he will find what he needs (and even where to find it).
Better then that is for someone else to do the job for him.
    Cheers!

Stephenwatch is correct there, the links on the 4000D are held by springbars, so a springbar tool would do the job...

I actually just used a small flat head screwdriver... Took a few goes but did the job! I later got myself a draper precision 'multi' screwdriver, with changeable bits, one of which is effectively a springbar toolbit...probably not as good as the wihas that LUW recommends but nevertheless good enough for the job :)

You'll be pleased to know it also has the right hex bit for removing the band/bracelet screws!

Would any of these work to remove the springbars? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Brand-new...ht_3541wt_1190

Also, would you happen to know what size screw bit I will need to remove the links?

    Thanks

You only need the springbar remover. The links are held on with a springbar, not a screw... The one you highlighted will do fine.

Alright. Just bought one, lets hope when the watch and the tool comes, this goes down well!

    EDIT:

Just out of curiosity, if I were to replace the metal band with a resin one, would I need anything besides the suitable hex key and the resin strap itself? Or will the process be an easy swap?

    Thanks once again.
